Disappointing Skincare Products

I have recently done a disappointing makeup products post, and decided to do one including skincare as well. There isn't much, as I don't test and trial much skincare, but here are a few things that disappointed me.

Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover
A mouthful of a name to start off with, I just didn't get on with this product at all. The main reason being its an extremely oily formula which didn't feel very nice to wipe my eyes with. I tried my best to like this, but I really couldn't. The oiliness of the product just sits on the skin around your eyes and doesn't sink in well, I felt like it wasn't breaking down my makeup well and just sitting there instead. I then switched to the Garnier Micellar Water, which I absolutely love and has replaced any separate eye makeup removers I would have previously used.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Soothing Moisturiser
When I first used this, I thought it was really nice and it went on nicely, soaked into the skin quick etccc. However after using it for a few days I started to notice quite a few spots appearing across my face, especially on places where I concentrated it most on; which was on my nose and under my eye area. I am pretty sure this is to blame for it, as soon as I stopped using it they died down and no more spots appeared in that area of my face. Also the smell of this product is very strange, not very nice in my opinion. Nothing too wrong with the product, just it broke me out.

Boots Botanics All Bright Gentle Cleansing Cream
You can use this product to take off any makeup, and also cleanse the skin. I tried to remove my makeup with this product, but I hated the feel it gave. It didn't feel fresh, and I didn't feel it fully removed my makeup well enough. I like my skin to feel fresh after cleansing or taking my makeup off, but this didn't give me that at all. Its quite an oily texture too, which doesn't help with my oily skin problem. I just didn't feel this worked well to break down makeup or to make my skin feel fully cleansed at all. I haven't touched this again, as like I said I love to use my Garnier Micellar Water.

Do you have any disappointing skincare products?

Prom Nails | Barry M Coconut

My prom is over and done with now, but I loved the colour of my nails and just had to share them!

I didn't personally paint my nails, somebody came and did it for me, and did it properly! But I picked out this colour which is by Barry M in their gelly nails range. Its called 'Coconut'. Its an off white colour, which is so pretty. I have to say it comes out more white on the nails than it looks in the bottle, but still super pretty.

My dress was black and white, so I thought this colour would match just perfectly. Its so long lasting, and I managed not to chip any of it off before/at prom, result. It is really shiny and glossy, which I just looved. And of course, I can use this all throughout summer, so thats a plus. I would really recommend this nail varnish, as it can be worn all summer long and its so long lasting and just a generally gorgeous colour.

What colour were your prom nails?

Things I Learnt Throughout School

Recently leaving school, I feel like I've learnt a lot of things over the past 5 years and want to be able to share my experience.

Don't pretend to be someone you're not
Ooh, starting of with a cliche phrase here but I can only tell you its the truth. I feel a lot of judging goes on within school, and sometimes you feel forced to dress a certain way or act a certain way just because everyone else is doing it, or you think you'll look 'cool'. I don't think you should feel pressured into doing anything or being someone you're not, so keep to what you enjoy, and what you feel comfortable in.

People come and go
I've found that so many people come into your life, then quickly or over time will leave again. Thats just life I suppose. I think many people go through a lot of friendships whilst at school, and that's okay! You won't get on with everybody, and you just have to find the right people you like being around. I think this is one of the biggest lessons I've learnt, people may let you down but you have to keep moving on.

Pick to do activities you enjoy
I can't stress this one enough. Picking to do subjects you enjoy is so important because a year down the line, you don't want to be sitting in that lesson bored out of your mind! I know some subjects are compulsory and you can't enjoy every single lesson, I know but where you can pick activities and subjects you know you're going to enjoy doing. I think you get the most out of picking the right things for you, and not doing something because your parents want you to or your friends are doing it.

Don't take it all too seriously
By no means am I saying not to work hard in school, no no no. I mean don't take revising or homework so seriously that you're making yourself stressed and unwell. Nobody wants that. As long as you try your best and work to the best of your ability you'll be fine. Its hard to not stress out, I totally understand but sometimes you just need to take a step back and breathe. Just try your best and that's all you can do!

I hope this has helped anyone going through school or even joining secondary school soon!
Have you learnt anything since leaving school?

Lyla Loves Wishlist

Since festival season is upon us, and summer is coming up I have put together a wishlist from Lyla Loves of some jewellery and accessories.

I found this gorgeous phone case, that is super summery but simple at the same time. I love the colour of this, and it also comes in yellow too! Definitely on the wishlist.

I love accessorizing over the summer, and this cute ring would be perfect to wear for festivals or to spice up any look. This is so affordable to, I'm seriously in love with this item.

Another super cute statement for summer time, this is so adorable and at such a good price, so pretty!

Temporary metallic tattoos are definitely on trend right now, and these ones are no exception. They're so pretty and you get so many on a pack, for a £1. So impressive.

This layered necklace is so pretty, and could be paired with anything. So gorgeous for a festival, it's like three in one!

I'm kinda obsessed with the print of this headband, its so pretty and summery. I love it.

Aren't these just the cutest things you've seen? So adorable and only £3, I just looove these so much, so cute.

Have you ever tried anything from Lyla Loves?

Empties No.1

I've managed to collect a small gathering of products to create this empties post today. I love empties posts because I think it shows that someone must have truly enjoyed the product, or at least something was good about it for them to have finished it all up.

Batiste Pixie Lott Dry Shampoo
I have to say this lasted me a long time, this is the Pixie Lott version of Batiste Dry Shampoo. The scent is so lovely, its quite floral but also quite fresh. It does leave white marks, but I know thats the same with basically all dry shampoos. I enjoyed this product a lot.

Would repurchase? Yes

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash
This isn't the first time I've emptied this product, maybe the second or third. The thing I love most is how long it lasts due to the size of the bottle, so you really do get value for money when purchasing this. The scent is just one of my favourites, it's so fresh and summery. However, the more I've used it the more I've noticed how the scent doesn't cling to your body. It smells amazing in the shower, but once you've stepped out you can barely smell it anymore, which I don't like.

Would repurchase? Maybe

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
This is on its last legs as you can see, it's a bit battered. Technically its not completely empty, but I can't really get to much more use out of this sadly. Its a powder I've used ever since I started wearing makeup, as it's cheap and does the job nicely. However I've now moved onto the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder, which sadly kind of beats this.

Would repurchase? No

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in 01
I only have the sample size of this, hence why it probably ran out so quickly. But this stuff is just amazing, I am completely in love. I use this on any blemishes or redness that I have, and it completely counteracts that and leaves me feeling a lot more confident about my skin. Its also great to hide any veins, or dark parts on your eyelids and acts as a great primer base before applying eyeshadow. I've found a lot of uses for this and will definitely be purchasing the full sized one in the future!

Would repurchase? Yes

What are your recent empties?

My Eyebrow Routine

Firstly I comb through my eyebrows using this eyebrow comb from Wilkos. Now, I only use this due to the fact I don't actually own a spooly, I know, I know. But this does the job well enough I think, plus its super affordable.

This is what I really wanted to talk about. I recently purchased this from Estee Lauder, I've been searching for something decent for my brows for a very long time now and this seems to be just perfect. Its a waxy formula, which I love as I know it'll stay put for longer. I just fill in any sparse areas of my brows and give a bit more shape. On the other end of the pencil, it has a highlighter. So I just go under my brows with this, blending it in with my fingers to give a subtle highlight. Would definitely recommend this product!

The most amazing brow gel in my opinion, the Maybelline Brow Drama. Once I've filled in my brows, I'll go back in again with my brow comb to make sure its all evened out. Then I put this through my brows to set them for the day! This definitely keeps your brows in place all day, its incredible. Also doesn't make your brows look crisp or anything bad like that!

What do you use in your brow routine?

Budget Beauty | Essence Lipstick In Barely There

I'm pretty sure most people in the blogging world are a sucker for a budget beauty buy. Recently I have discovered the brand Essence, and I just had to blog about it. I'll definitely be doing more posts on budget beauty, because personally I love reading them. Anyway, I'd heard a lot of craze over Essence and had seen the stand in my local Wilkinsons and wondered what all the fuss was about. They have such a range of products which are so reasonable its incredible. I'd been on the hunt for a nude pink lipstick for a long time, but hadn't found one I liked. Until I spotted this beauty, which is there lipstick in Barley There!

There lipsticks are £2.30, which is incredibly reasonable I was so impressed. The colour is drifting towards your typical Kylie Jenner lip, however a lot more natural. Its a very dark pinky nude, I can only describe it as your lips but better. It applies so nicely, and is extremely hydrating! I was so impressed with how much hydration this has, its not drying on the lips at all and doesn't cling to any dry patches you may have. Its so easy to apply, Its quite a sheer formula, but I really like that as it gives a nice natural glow to this lips. Eating and drinking isn't a problem, as you don't get left with an awkward lipstick mark or have to worry about it smudging across your face as it fades naturally, and you'd be able to reapply without using a mirror in my opinion. If you're looking for a natural looking lipstick, I'd highly recommend you go and give this a try! I am so impressed for the price and will definitely be going back to check out more of Essences products.

Have you tried anything from Essence?

Lemon And Cucumber Infused Water

I'm really feeling the summer inspired posts at the moment, I do apologise, but who can resist the good weather? One of the most important things in the summer time, is to keep hydrated. I've experimented with a few things to make it a bit easier to remember/want to drink water for this summer.

Lemon and Cucumber Infused Water
For this, all you're going to need is a nice big cup/jug/beaker whatever you like, for your water. Simply fill it up with a small gap at the top as you'll be adding in lemon and cucumber. Chop up about 3 or 4 slices of lemon then slice them in half again so they're fit nicely into your water. If you want you can squeeze the remaining bit of lemon into the water to give it a kick start. Then cut about 2 or 3 slices of cucumber, and pop them in as well! Then add a few ice cubes to keep the water cool and refreshed. Its as simple as that. If you're not a fan of cucumber or lemon, you can mix it up with different fruits. Try lime and strawberry, or strawberry and mint, there are endless combinations to choose from.

The Health Benefits
It will keep you hydrated
Helps to keep your skin hydrated and spots at bay
Can help put you in a better mood
Water is known to speed up your metabolism
Helps to get rid of any toxins in the body

If you give this water a go, please tweet me a picture at '@foreverrsept'. Enjoy!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser

I've been battling with oily skin basically all my life, and I've never found a cleanser that helps control the oiliness on my face. Until now. I introduce to you, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser. I went into Kiehl's a few weeks ago, searching for something that could help me with my oiliness. The lovely lady in there sat me down, tested the hydration levels of my skin and also how oily it really was. Turns out I have super oily, yet slightly dehydrated skin. It was all very interesting to find out, haha. Anyway, she then recommended me this, along with the other products in this range, and so I bought the cleanser for starts and to say the least I am very impressed.

So, obviously if you have oily skin this will be perfect for you. When applying, you only need the tiniest amount because a little goes a long way with this stuff. What I love about this cleanser, is that it has no excess foam. As in, when you rub it into the skin no bubbles or foamy stuff comes off with it. When you massage it into the skin, you can really feel it start to work straight away and it sink into your skin which is an amazing feeling. My favourite part though, is washing it off. When you splash water on your face to wash it off, you can actually feel all the excess oils from your face have been removed by this cleanser. Incredible. Now I'm sure some people may think, well surely having natural oils striped from your face is bad for you? But of course, your natural oils will come back but this cleanser just helps to keep them at bay and help to control shine. I've  really been enjoying this product, however its not the cheapest but not totally unaffordable at £15.

Have you tried any Kiehl's products?

The Best Of Photography Books

I'm really passionate about photography and I've found certain books have helped me along the way. Whether you're starting out with photography, or even advanced with it I think these books are some of the best out there!

01. Lonely Planet's Best Ever Photography Tips - This is a pretty tiny book, so you could even take it around with you whilst out photographing. It talks about everything and anything you could possibly imagine involving photography. It tells you about camera settings, light, equipment that is useful, how to work in manual on your camera etc. Its an all rounder book that has some lovely photos in also, which is always a plus. I love looking at the pictures. Would really recommend this if you're quite new to photography, or just bought a dslr camera. Super helpful.

02. Photocrafty - If you're really into the creative and wacky side of photography this is a book for you. This book is packed full of creative ideas to do with photography. It also gives tips on how to work your camera, settings, lighting etc. There are 75 'projects' you can have a go at to get your camera to its full potential. If you like getting hands on you're really going to like this. Its really fun, simple to understand/read and has some amazing photos in to look at also for inspiration.

03. Digital Photography Step by Step - For those of you who don't mind reading a lot, this ones a big one. More of a 'manual' type book, this probably has every single thing you need to know about digital photography in the history of forever! It also tells you how to work your camera, so you can get the best out of whatever you're using. It really goes into depth about how to take different types of shots, the camera settings, lighting etc. If you're looking to go really thoroughly into digital photography I think this is an amazing book to get you started.

Let me know if theres anymore photography books worth the read!

10 Things I Want To Do This Summer

Over the past few months I've been making a list of things I'd like to do this summer, as I have a three month summer this year I feel like it'd be a perfect opportunity to do some things I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Maybe this could give you some ideas for things you could do this summer.

1. Go to an art gallery - Saatchi gallery in particular. After visiting the Tate last year, I've been dying to go to another gallery, as they're just such peaceful places to be. The Saatchi looks incredible, and I'd love to have a look around there this summer.
2. Have breakfast at The Breakfast Club - This little cafe in London looks particularly cute and the food looks delicious. There's just something special about waking up earlier and having breakfast at a cute cafe, just something you wouldn't do ordinarily.
3. Read at least 5 books - I love reading but I know I don't do enough of it. I think summer is the perfect time to read as you have so much time on your hands, and its such a relaxing thing to do. If anyone has any book recommendations I'd love to hear them.
4. Spend the day at a beach - Stereotypical, I know. But lets be honest, there's nothing better than spending the day at a beach on a hot summers day; you just can't beat it.
5. Go on a spontaneous walk - I'd love to just take a walk and just wonder, not knowing where you'll end up. It seems like a fun idea and it gives you the chance to explore new places.
6. Watch the stars - Probably another stereotypical one, but it seems so cute. I'd love to just chill and watch the stars come out, there's just something very therapeutic and calming about that.
7. Go to a concert/festival - There is no better time to go to a concert or festival than summer. I've never been to a festival, so thats definitely on my bucket list.
8. Have an all day picnic - I love picnics! I want to be able to go out for the day and just sit and talk with friends/family and eat all we want.
9. Get another piercing - I have my ears pierced twice, but I'd love to get another one somewhere on my ear. This definitely isn't for everyone, but this is something I'd love to do!
10. Explore London - London can be such a beautiful place, and I'd love to see more if it. Definitely something I'll be doing this summer!

What are your plans for summer?
