Dr IASO AC Booster

I love testing out new skincare products, its so satisfying when you finally find something that works for you. So I was very pleased when Dr. IASO got in contact with me to ask if I'd like to trial one of their products!

I was so impressed when browsing through their website at the range of products targeted at different skin types they had. I ended up settling for the Dr. IASO AC Booster*. This is an oil that helps to combat spot prone skin. All of the ingredients in it work in a specific way to help get rid of those spots and blemishes. For example, the tea tree oil in this helps to kill bacteria that causes acne. It has AHA / BHA to gently exfoliate the skin, centella asiatica for skin healing. And also kava extract to condition the skin and finally aloe vera to soothe and moisturise the skin. With ingredients like that you can't really go wrong. If you suffer from oily or spot prone skin this is definitely something for you!

Now onto what I really think of this product. Well in a nutshell its incredible! Its rare that I find a skincare product that I fall head over heels in love with but this has just worked so well with my skin. I do suffer with very oily skin and its definitely spot prone. I apply this in the morning and evening after I have finished cleansing my skin. I use two smallish drops on my fingertips then massage it into my skin. I was amazed at how quickly it sinks into your skin, it doesn't feel sticky in the slightest like some oils. This product only has a slight smell to it and thats the smell of tea tree - which I really don't mind. I always feel so refreshed after applying this oil and I love it.

Have I seen any results? Well my friends yes I have - which is a first for a very long time! My spots have rapidly reduced and my skin feels SO much softer and smoother. Its also helped to fade some past spot scars which I'm so impressed with. The oiliness around my nose hasn't totally gone but I feel this has helped to control it. This retails for £25 over on Dr. IASO's website which you can visit here. I'd definitely recommend you go and visit and maybe try out this or any other of their products, I'm super impressed! Thankyou to Dr. IASO.

Have you ever tried anything from Dr. IASO?

Covering Up Blemishes

Being someone who has quite spot prone and oily skin I've tried a variety of ways to cover up what I can. Not everyone likes to do heavy duty covering up but I'm quite conscious about my spots so I prefer to do so.

First of all I will use my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in the shade Ivory to cover up my dark circles, across my nose and then dot it on any blemishes I have. Because this is a liquid based concealer, it gives a sheer coverage, but this is just what I start with. I usually use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend this in with because it gives a bit more coverage. This is possibly one of my favourite concealers it just glides on so nicely - I've mentioned this hundreds of times on my blog now (oops)!

Secondly I use my Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in the shade 01 Light. As you can see from the picture its basically empty and I did feature this in an empties post. However I wasn't ready to part with it and I couldn't figure out a way to get more from it - but then I discovered the Real Techniques Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush. I never use brushes for their fit purpose, is this just me haha? Its the perfect size to get some of the concealer on then dabbing onto any blemishes or spots you may have. This concealer is pretty heavy going and hides any marks so well. I again blend this in with my RT Miracle Complexion Sponge or just my ring finger. Any spots, blemishes or redness you had will be hardly visible with this stuff!

To set both the concealers in place I use my Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - which is the best drugstore powder I have ever tried! I use my new Born Pretty Store powder brush to put this over the top of the blemishes I have concealed and you're set to go for the day! This technique lasts me all day and keeps any blemishes well hidden. I hope this helped, however I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way, you don't have to cover up anything on your face - you're beautiful with or without coverage! I just prefer to for confidence reasons.

What concealers do you use to cover up blemishes?

What I Love About Autumn

Autumn has rapidly approached with it being the first official day of Autumn on Wednesday. I must admit I prefer Summer much more but there are a few little things that Autumn brings that Summer just can't compete with.

01. You have the excuse to eat as much apple & cinnamon flavoured things as you could possibly want. I am a massive fan of these two flavours so you can image autumn is a great time for me.

02. Snuggled up under a super fluffy blanket or duvet and watching a movie or netflix. Possibly one of the most cosiest things to do when its chilly outside and you're all nice and toasty.

03. Long walks with a camera - this is probably my favourite thing to do in autumn. The colours of the leaves are stunning oranges, reds, browns and capturing that in a photograph is amazing.

04. Spending hours inside a warm coffee shop. I love going to Starbucks or Costa on a cold autumnal day because its always so warm inside and you can chill for as long as you want sipping on one of their delicious hot drinks.

05. Wrapping up in coats and scarfs. I looove wearing scarfs in the autumn, they keep you so warm and they can look so stylish with basically anything.

06. Making halloween themed food. I don't particularly celebrate halloween as such - but autumn time gives you an excuse to make those pumpkin shaped cookies you saw on Pinterest or that yummy looking apple pie.

07. Hot drinks! Any form of hot drink after a cold trip out is perfect in the autumn. Whether you're a pumpkin spice latte fan or just a hot chocolate lover - there is no better time to enjoy a hot drink than autumn.

08. Shops start to bring out their autumn/winter ranges. Lush always bring out gorgeous products for halloween and christmas! Other shops such as Primark bring out some lovely autumnal homeware and clothes!

09. Snuggling up on the sofa with a huge blanket and reading. Whether thats reading a book or reading through blogs is so relaxing and something you might not get the chance to do in summer.

10. Fluffy socks! Honestly this is probably my favourite thing - I practically live in big knitted/fluffy socks in the autumn time, they keep your feet so warm and you feel so cosy.

What are your favourite things about Autumn?

BornPrettyStore Haul

The people over at BornPrettyStore got in contact with me asking if I'd like to try and choose a few products from their site. Of course I had to say yes - theres hundreds of really great products to choose from on there! I'm going to share with you what I picked out and what I think of them all. Also you can get 10% off your order with the code HEYH10.

First pick of the bunch is the Fluorescent Lip Gloss Liquid Moisturising Lasting Lipstick Lip Paint* in the shade 03 by a brand called Millie. Essentially its a glossy liquid lipstick. The shade range they offer is great, there is 12 shades to choose from in some stunning colours! I opted for the shade 03 because I'd been on the hunt for a orangey red lip shade for a while and this looked appealing. Admittedly it is a very bright shade - quite shocking when you see it in the bottle but nevertheless it isn't as bright when you apply it. You can build it up to an extremely bright lip or you can keep it on the down low, a bit more neutral. It has a doe foot applicator which I love and think works so well to apply this. Its easy to apply and is very pigmented and shows up as soon as it touches the lips. It doesn't cling to any dry patches you may have on your lips and glides on smoothly. Its very moisturising like it states in the name and sits nicely on the lips. Sometimes I find with lip glosses or liquid lipsticks they sit funny on my lips and don't feel comfortable but with this it sits just right. The other great thing is that its very long lasting, I think this is due to the amazing pigmentation. I'm very impressed with this and would definitely consider getting some more colours - maybe opt for a more neutral colour as this is pretty bright, but equally very pretty.

Second on the list we have the daintiest little brush; The Eye Shadow Brush Practical Single Brush For Makeup*. I chose this purely because I don't own a small eyeshadow brush to pack eyeshadow onto the lid or run underneath my lash line. Its made from artificial hair and is really soft. Its not scratchy on the eyelid which I can find with some eyeshadow brushes - it just smooths on eyeshadow nicely and efficiently. The actual length of the brush itself is just the right size to hold, not too short not too long. The thing I have been using this most for is packing on my base eyeshadow onto the lid, it picks up a lot of product as its quite a dense and small brush. It does a great job of this and couldn't really ask for a better brush to do this with. I'd really recommend this because its so cheap as well only $2.16 which equates to about £1.39. Can you get better than that really?! Plus with the 10% off code HEYH10 - that makes it even cheaper!

Not to have favourites or anything - but this has to be my favourite haha. The Handmade Rattan Handled Blush Brush Portable Powder Brush*. Can we just take a moment to appreciate this? Its a dupe for the Nars Yachiyo Kabuki which costs around £38 where as you can get this for only £4.42. That price difference is insane for a brush that in my eyes is amazing. First of all, this is one of the softest brushes I have ever felt which is luxurious when you brush it across your face. I've been using this to apply powder and also bronzer. I think I prefer it for powder because it doesn't pick up too much product so you know for a fact you're not caking up your makeup. Its great if you want your bronzer a little more on the subtle, natural side. Just use this to brush that across the tops of your cheeks and you're good to go! I'm so impressed with the quality of it, if you didn't know it could easily pass off for the Nars offering. Its so easy to handle and is so lightweight. This has quickly become one of my favourite brushes in my collection! Super impressed.

So those were all the products I got my hands on from the BornPrettyStore. Don't forget if you want to make an order, you can get 10% off with the code HEYH10. Also there is a banner at the side of my blog showing this 10% off deal! I hope you enjoyed this post and liked the products I feautred and maybe made you want to go and have a browse and buy some of your own stuff!

Have you ever bought anything from BornPrettyStore?

The Sunday Chatter #4

Back to one of my favourite posts to do - the Sunday chatter. I just love sitting down and chatting to everyone it feels like I'm talking to a friend or something. I hope you enjoy this weeks!

So the past two weeks I have gone back to college. My first year to be exact. I was pretty excited because of the courses I would be starting but also sad because the summer was over for another year. Anyway I'm pleased to say I'm still enjoying it and its my second week (despite the early mornings)! Change is something everyone has to go through in life and sometimes its nice to have a bit of a change. I've learnt this the past two weeks; school was getting repetitive, I mean I was there for about 11 years - it seemed it was time to move on. The courses I picked are very different from what I was doing in school, no maths or science involved much to my delight. Going into college hasn't been the biggest life changing experience but it opens your eyes a little bit and it gets you thinking about what you want to go onto doing later in life and career wise. Even though I'm still not sure, I'm sure I will figure out something haha!

In other news apart from the topic of change - this week was my birthday! Another year gone by wow I still feel as if I should be 12. I was lucky enough to be able to get a Macbook which I am so thrilled with, I honestly can't quite get over the quality of everything and how quick it all is! Anyone who has one might understand haha. I'm also saving up for a new camera body so hopefully my blog photos can improve and I can get some really great shots.

I hope you enjoyed this small little chatter this week - let me know if you've experienced any change in your life recently whether thats a new school year, college, uni, moving house - whatever it may be!

What have you been up too this week?

The Personality Test

I apologise for the late post today people - I hadn't scheduled anything and have been pretty busy this week! Anyway - today is a different sort of post, a chatty one (which I love) and its all to do with personality!

So I was talking to one of my friends the other day, who brought up an online test that you can do which gives you a personality type and all the traits to go along with it. I was so intrigued by this, I just had to do it! Its honestly one of the most interesting things I've done and you get to find out so much more about yourself and you can also relate to what they're saying - its very interesting.

I'll tell you all about the personality type I ended up with first. Once I'd completed the serious of questions they ask you, I ended up with the personality type INFJ (The Advocate). What it says about the INFJ personality type is; it is a very rare personality type, making up less than 1% of the population, but nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As Diplomats they have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is the accompanying judge trait - INFJs are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realise their goals and make a lasting positive impact. Now personally I think this is the right personality type for me, I believe that statement fits me very well. Once you get the results, it has 8 pages explaining your personality type in different aspects of your life such as, what you're like in a relationship, what you're like around your friends, your strengths and weaknesses etc.

As a summery I ended up leaning towards being an introvert - meaning I prefer being out of social situations and more in my own company. I am more intuitive over being observant, which means that I am quite open minded and focus on hidden meanings within things. I am more prospecting over judging which just means I'm good at spotting opportunities. And finally I am more turbulent over being assertive - simply meaning I am quite self conscious and sensitive to stress (pretty true if you ask me)!

I found this so interesting to do and be able to realise a bit more about myself. I'd really encourage you to take this test, just to see what you end up with and maybe you'll take a few things away with it like I did! The website is and its completely free and is just a cool thing to do in my opinion. Will Darbyshire also took this test and made a video about it over on his Youtube channel which you can check out here. I'd love to hear what personality type you end up with, so if you take the test let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoyed this lifestyle type post today folks!

What personality type did you end up with?

The Autumn Agenda

Autumn has rolled around pretty fast - and in the UK its getting rather chilly! I love autumn themed make up looks with darker colours and lightly flushed cheeks so heres a few products I'll be using this autumn.

Foundation wise I'll probably be using L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation because its pretty lightweight but still has a lovely full coverage that I like in the autumn/winter time. Secondly as you can see from the pictures a gorgeous highlighter which is the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelee. This is a really subtle highlight which is suitable for both summer and autumn weather, it gives a lovely glow but also warms up the face slightly. Lastly face wise; I'll definitely be using my Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink. This gives the perfect rosy cheek look - I love this sort of look in autumn because it looks like you've just come out of the cold into the warm and your cheeks are all flushed.

For the eyes this autumn time, my Naked Smoky Palette is going to be my holy grail. I love a good old' smoky eye for the autumn/winter. Even just a neutral brown eye is super pretty. With my Naked Smoky I can achieve both of those and the eyeshadows a very long lasting. One of my favourite smoky looks I've been going for is using the shade 'Smolder' which is a taupey purple through my crease and then 'Armor' which is a gorgeous shimmery silver all over the lid. Its stunning!

On my lips this autumn I've picked a gorgeous colour. That is Mac Burgundy lip liner. As the name suggests its literally a burgundy colour - a deep reddy brown. Its great for an all over lip colour or you can pair it with another autumn lip colour. I like to pair it with Mac Plumful, which is a lighter colour more of a plumy purple but together they just seem to mix very well. Definitely check out the two of them.

What products are on your autumn agenda?

Guest Post: 5 Minute Face

A quick introduction - this Sunday I've done a guest post in collaboration with Dalal from Monochrome Daisies. Definitely head over to her blog its amazing and she has some really awesome posts! I hope you all enjoy this guest post and check out Dalal's blog.

Managed to find myself a marble countertop at the air bnb we were staying at so of course I took full advantage and took some blog photos, as you do. As Rebekka exclaimed ‘you’re a real blogger now’ when I shared the photos, I really do feel accomplished- now time to figure out a way to get a marble counter top back in England. Anyway as school is ominously looming over us (well the majority of us have already gone back) I’ve put together an array of products, ranging from drugstore to high end, that’ll showcase a makeup look that you can put together in a short space of time as well as allow you to feel comfortable throughout the day whilst maintaining that ‘healthy glow’ you would
have homed during the summer.

This step is optional as I know foundation isn’t everyone’s choice of base during school but I couldn’t not add this in. The Clinique Superbalanced foundation is so lightweight; it offers minimal coverage that is just enough to mask any blemishes and any imperfections whilst allowing the look of healthy skin. I was never a fan of foundation but this has been a serious game changer for me!

If I could only wear one makeup product for the rest of my life it’d have to be concealer, the Nars Creamy Concealer to be precise. Summer usually induces those out of proportion sleep patterns where you’ll sleep at 6am and wake up at 3pm so of course this’ll take a toll on you once you're back at school. I apply this in an upside down triangle shape and blend to brighten and open up the face, it’s crazy what a little bit of concealer can do!

Brows have been a popular point of interest for the past year or so, as many women (and men) have started to fill and shape theirs- of course I joined in. My eyebrows are naturally shaped well so I only fill them in to intensify their darkness as the sun and sea salt tends to not only lighten my hair, but my eyebrows too. Although I’ve been lusting over the Benefit Gimme Brow since April I just couldn’t bring myself to pay nearly £20 for a brow gel so I decided to give this MUA one a try. I don’t love it nor hate it, it’s one of those neutral products that I’ll use but once it runs out I won’t be repurchasing. Don’t get me wrong, it does the job and all and helps thicken and darken my eyebrows but it’s not wonderful.

Diorshow Iconic mascara. All my blog readers know how much I freackin’ love this stuff, although I’ve bought the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara (perks of the duty free) which I love equally as much (feels like I’m talking about children) I think it’s a little too dramatic for school. The Diorshow lengthens your lashes and gives that fluttry look thus making you appear more wide eyed and ready to learn (ha no.)

I’ve never really ventured out into the world of blush before as it's quite daunting for me although I am lusting over the Nars ones; my cousin lent me the Une Breezy Cheeks in shade Blush Grand Air. I was a little on the fence when trying this as I always get a vision that if I apply too much then I'll look like those cartoon characters with bright red cheeks and blue eyeshadow...just me? I was pleasantly surprised to find that this dusty mauve toned pink blends into the skin seamlessly to create a naturally flushed look (no overly red cheeks, phew), you can either apply it with your fingers or with a brush, in this case I used my RT cheek brush to blend onto the apples of my cheeks.

Lastly is a makeup bag staple that'll you find in the makeup bags of tweens up to fully grown women- it's just that good, the Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch allows hydration and a sheer wash of colour to warm up the face. This is a very light pink colour which can be built up but for this scenario it’s best to keep it toned down. This lip balm sits proudly in my blazer pocket all year round and is easy to whip out when your lips are feeling a little parched.

What products do you use to complete your 5 minute face?

Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her

Essie is a nail polish brand I've only just dabbled in - after winning a giveaway that landed me 5 of their products. One of them being Maximillian Strasse-Her.

Maximillian Strasse-Her is described as a 'cool grey-green nail polish' which I totally agree with. It doesn't look too appealing in the bottle, its almost a groggy colour but somehow it looks absolutely stunning on the nails. I chose this colour because Lily Pebbles and Vivianna Does Makeup talked about it quite a lot and I just wanted to see what it was all about. I must say I don't own another colour like this in my collection as its quite unique. Its definitely the perfect summer to autumn transitional shade too as its very neutral. The other great thing is that no matter what you're wearing it pretty much matches everything with its neutral cool tones. As for applying, it applies like a dream. Essie polishes are definitely worth the £7 or so in my opinion. I needed two coats of this to get it very opaque which I thought was pretty good. It doesn't have a thick consistency nor does it have a very thin one, the perfect balance for a nail polish. All in all I'm totally head over heels for this, and its probably going to be on my nails the majority of autumn/winter!

Whats your favourite Essie nail polish shade?

Ways To Save Money On Beauty

Saving money can be such a tricky thing to do when there is so many nice beauty products out there; but I think I've come up with some helpful money saving tips that hopefully might help!

01. TK Maxx & Outlets
So the other day I was browsing through TK Maxx, as you do, when I spotted a whole shelf rammed full with beauty items. I must admit it was a total shambles and you really had to dig around to find everything but boy was there some gems in there! Discounted Nars (yes Nars), Stila, Maybelline, you name it. Ciate nail polishes too down to the mere price of £3.99. Most of the makeup was no more than £5 and that's for high end products. Alongside this, outlet stores such as The Cosmetics Company have discounted Mac, Estee Lauder, Smashbox etc. The one other place I can recommend which is Fragrance Direct - hundreds of products for such low prices.

02. Look Out For Offers
A bit of an obvious one maybe? Well Boots always have some sort of deal on; whether its with one brand or all brands. They usually have 3 for 2 which gets you an extra product for the price of two! Also No7 always give out at least £3 off vouchers every once in a while. Also there is always a reduced basket or stand in Boots and Superdrug, have a rummage and see if theres anything worth it in amongst it all!

03. Birthday & Christmas
Okay so they both only come around once a year, but if you've had a high end product on your list for months and can't afford it, why not ask for people to chip in for your birthday? Then it also feels worth the wait when you open it on your birthday!

04. Keep Track
Keep track of the money you've spent so far in the month on beauty products, if you think its too much just strain yourself and wait until next month; that bronzer will be right there and waiting for you still in a few weeks time!

05. Loyalty Cards & Student Card
Collecting points up from Boots or Superdrug really helps, if you save up enough what you can get is pretty much endless! Even though you're spending money to get the points, at the end of the day you can be rewarded with much more so you're saving yourself a lil bit cash here! Also if you're a student and have a student card; you can save yourself 10% in Boots and Superdrug - pretty good if you ask me!

Do you have any tips on saving money?

The Sunday Chatter #3

I missed doing a Sunday Chatter last week; but to be fair there wasn't anything I could really talk about - pretty boring week! But its back!

This week I just want to have a casual chat and talk about appreciating your health. I was struck down with an end of summer cold this week, I know this might sound a little silly to some as it's 'just a cold'. But I never take time to appreciate and be thankful for feeling well enough! Also when you're poorly you're pretty much bed bound for a few days and it sucks. It made me realise I need to take some more opportunities when I'm well and go out and do more instead of laying in bed on tumblr, netflix etc. I don't know if this is just me? I'm sort of just sharing what's been going through my brain; I hope this makes some sense haha!

Even though I had this horrid cold - I managed to fit a bit of shopping in for back to college clothes and I managed to pick up a super comfy cardigan from Primark which you can find here and also a slouchy jumper from H&M which you can find here. I was so excited to finally be shopping for warm clothes again, I much prefer autumn/winter fashion opposed to summer! I don't actually like winter itself too much; I'm not a fan of dark nights and gloomy days and getting up in the freezing cold. But at least you can wrap up warm! I'm excited its September because its my birthday month - ahh I love birthdays! Also I'm back to college very soon; hopefully that won't affect my blog but just  to let you know I might be quite busy!

I love writing these, it gives me a chance to let out my thoughts and have a good old chat with anyone who reads my blog. I hope you enjoyed a little catch up into my life and you'll be back for more!

How has your week been?

Late Night Lazy Skincare

I know after an evening out, and coming in quite late that the last thing I want to be thinking about is skincare; or even taking off my makeup for that matter. I've come up with an under five minute routine for those nights where you just want to curl up in bed and not have to worry about skincare!

Step 01.
Make sure you take off your makeup. It seems like so much effort when you've just spent the past four or five hours out, but its important, your skin just wouldn't appreciate you falling asleep with it on. Anyway, since this is a quick and easy routine I'd recommend just using face wipes or a micellar water. Boots Makeup Remover Wipes work pretty well or the Garnier Micellar Water is incredible too!

Step 02.
Now all your makeup is removed, we're going to skip cleansing. After all this has to be quick so you can jump into bed. I would never normally skip cleansing because I think its important but however, I introduce Lush Tea Tree Water. I've harped on about this far to much, but its amazing. Just spritz this all over your face and you'll feel a lot more refreshed and clean. This is great because as its got tea tree in it, its going to act as an anti bacterial for your skin.

Step 03.
You're probably going to want to give your skin a quick bit of moisture before you hop off into bed; I love using the Boots Botanics Mattifying Gel Cream because it sinks into the skin quickly but moisturises at the same time. It feels fresh on the skin and has a light scent to it. Also keeping your skin nice and matte!

Step 04.
Finally we're almost there, this step isn't that important but if you've been suffering with a few breakouts and spots you might want to include this step to keep them at bay. I use Sudocrem on anywhere that is problematic or I have a spot. It almost dries out the spot, reduces its size and redness. This is a really quick and easy fix, so if you still want to take care of those troublesome spots then this might work for you!

What are your favourite quick and easy skincare products?

Dark Chocolate And Hazelnut Cookies

Don't you just love it when you bake something and it actually goes right? Well this just so happened when making these delicious dark chocolate and hazelnut cookies! So obviously I had to share it.

225g (8 oz) unsalted butter, softened
225g (8 oz) caster sugar
170g Carnation condensed milk
350g (12 oz) self raising flour, sifted
100g (4 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
100g (4 oz) hazelnuts, roasted, chopped

In a large bowl cream your butter and sugar together until its pale. Stir in the condensed milk. Then mix in the flour and then work in the chocolate and hazelnuts. On a side note I used ready roasted hazelnuts and did not use the full 100g just because I didn't want them too overpowering. But feel free to add as much as you want! After you've worked in the chocolate and the hazelnuts you want to go ahead and divide the dough in half and place each half in a square or foil cling film. Roll into two thick sausage shapes. Then you need to pop them in the fridge to let the dough chill (I put mine in for about 45 minutes which was enough). These can keep in the fridge for up to a week! When you're ready to bake, preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4 (180 Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit). Peel the cling film off, then cut into thick slices, and bake in the oven on trays lined with greaseproof paper for about 15 minutes or until golden brown at the edges, but still a little soft. Enjoy!

Would you give these cookies a try?
