Asos Summer Wish List

As the summer months are finally here I thought this would be pretty appropriate...

I've never really shared much about my style over here on my lil blog so I thought I'd put together some bits I've been eying up on asos for summer. I like a mixture of grunge inspired pieces and just cute bits haha. I'll stop the chatting typing, and let you have a quick browse over the bits I picked out! Enjoy.

What have you been loving from asos recently?

My First NARS Product | Copacabana Illuminator

Finally I own a NARS product...

When I was on my travels in Manchester, I was very excited to see a Selfridges. I was originally planning on picking something up from the Charlotte Tilbury counter but couldn't decide on what I wanted, so I opted for something from NARS and ended up going for their Illuminator in Copacabana.

This comes in at £23 so its definitely not the cheapest but I think its 100% worth it. Just from looking at it you can see how beautiful it is. You can add this into your foundation for a illuminated base or use it as a highlighter. I've personally been using this as a highlight and I've been really loving it. Its very pink toned as you can see from the tube, but it gives a lovely pearly glow on the skin. You can build this up or keep it subtle which is great. I've used this pretty much every day since I laid my eyes on it. Because its a cream product its very long lasting as well, which is always a bonus. Gotta keep those cheekbones highlighted!

All in all I think this is worth the price tag that it comes with, as its very wearable & extremely pretty.

Whats your favourite NARS product?

Surviving A Cold

Don't get me wrong, having a cold isn't the end of the world but it sure is annoying...

Yay I've been hit with the first cold of the year (pretty good going really). I always seem to pick up colds in the summer months and hardly ever in the winter, weird. But since I'm sitting here suffering I thought I'd share what has helped me feel that lil bit better.

01. Conceal - I literally look like Rudolf right now, my nose is bright red. My under eyes are looking extremely dark and overall my skins pretty lifeless. Concealer is literally my best friend right now, just conceal all the nastiness.

02. Hydrate yo' self - Drinking water is meant to help flush out all the bad stuff when you have a cold, so I'm trying to drink as much as possible right now. Along with this, my skin just feels dry and dehydrated so moisturiser is a must. I don't feel like doing my full skincare routine right now but I'm still making sure I moisturise to keep my skin in good tact.

03. Lip balm is your bestie - Ugh dry lips are the worst thing ever. Keeping them topped up with a super moisturising lip balm is the only way to tackle this issue. I've been using my trusty Nuxe Rev De Miel to keep my lips hydrated.

04. Soothers are a saviour - Nothing worse than a sore throat, soothers literally save me when I have a cold. Nothing much more to say about these, except that they're just a great help haha!

05. Setting powder - Since you'll be blowing your nose approximately 100 times an hour (or at least thats my case), I want my concealer to stay in place. Just dust a bit of this under your eyes and around your nose and hope that all the nose blowing doesn't wipe away the concealer!

What are your tips for surviving a cold?

Keeping Eyeshadow In Place

Eyeshadow primers are a God send...

Having oily eyelids really isn't the best lets be honest, it just means my eyeshadow slips off within about 10 minutes of applying. This means I'm always on the hunt for a primer thats going to keep my eyeshadow in tact all day long, so here I present to you two of my favourite eyeshadow primers.

The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a well known product amongst bloggers, and rightfully so. This is a really lightweight primer that smoothes over the lids nicely. It gives such a great base for an eyeshadow applied on top. This comes with a doe foot applicator so all you need to do is swipe some of this across your lids then blend in, easy as. This works pretty well at keeping eyeshadow in place all day, however not as well as the next primer...

The Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue. Okay so I cannot rave enough about this product, its seriously the most insane eyeshadow primer. With glue in the name it sounds a bit terrifying, like why would you want to put glue on your eyelids? This has a very thick, sticky consistency (just like glue) and is very different to Urban Decay's offering. This comes in a tube, so you squeeze the tiniest amount onto your finger and blend into the lids. This keeps eyeshadow on SO well, I have pretty much the same amount of shadow on my lids by the time I take my makeup off as I did when I first applied it. I feel as though this lives up to its name and I would highly recommend if you're someone who struggles with oily lids.

Essie Haul

Can't beat Essie nail polishes...

I only have one full sized Essie polish in my collection, so I thought it was time to change that. Essie nail polish prices aren't that cheap, so I searched around and found that Fragrance Direct stocked a fair few shades. I was so happy to see them selling for only £2.99! I know I couldn't believe it either, so I picked up four shades to add to my collection!

My first pick was the shade 'I'm Addicted'. A gorgeous bright blue shade that is so summer appropriate. This is the only one out of the bunch that I've already tried out. I had to apply about two coats to get this opaque, which is pretty good going. So far I've had it on for 4 days and there isn't a single chip on any of my nails - result! The second shade I picked up was 'Parka Perfect'. Arguably a more autumnal shade but I do love a good grey toned nail polish. I did pick this not realising just how similar it is to Maximilian Strasse Her; which I already own. Doesn't matter though, you can see they have a slight difference in tone to them.

Thirdly, I picked up 'A Cut Above'. Can we just take a moment because ugh so pretty. This is a pink glitter which will look so lovely with some of the pink shades I already have in my collection. Finally I went for the shade 'Fashion Playground'. A very pretty pastel green shade which I've been after for the longest time. I do love a good pastel shade for the summer months and I think this is just perfect. Its quite a light shade though but hopefully it won't take too many coats to get it looking opaque!

What are your favourite Essie nail polish shades?

Why I've Decided To Start A Diary Again

Sentimental person over here...

Thought I'd keep it cool today with a bit of a chatty post. So I've decided I'm going to start writing a diary again. When I was younger, maybe 10/11 I kept a diary every single day for two years. I think thats pretty impressive to say the least. Last year I actually purchased 'Q&A a Day: 5-year Journal'. This was simply to ease me back into the whole writing a diary thing, as I couldn't commit to doing it fully every day. I really enjoy my Q&A a Day journal, as it asks you questions instead of you writing whats on your mind. Its pretty cool. But the other day I went to Paperchase and picked up this gorgeous watermelon notebook. It was so cute I couldn't resist buying it, plus it was only £4.50, bargain. Anyway onto why I actually want to keep a diary.

01. Its something to look back on. One simply cannot remember every single day of their life just through memory so to write it all down means that you might read back over things you totally forgot about.

02. You can remember all the fantastic memories you've made. I'm such a sentimental person and love remembering the good ol' times, and reading back over them is always a pleasure.

03. Writing down your feelings. Its always good to share your feelings so if you don't want to talk to anyone directly, you can just jot them down instead.

04. You can learn. I definitely won't just be writing down the good times, but including the bad. As someone who suffers with anxiety I think its good to write down how you feel and be able to look back and learn from that particular situation.

05. Its just fun. When I was younger I wanted to be an author, although that dream has slowly faded my secret love for writing hasn't. I enjoy writing things down, nothing beats pen on paper.

Do you keep a diary?

Trying Out This Works: Sleep

Who doesn't love sleep...

I actually got this sample when I was on my travels in Manchester. I'd seen so many bloggers using the 'This Works Deep Calm Pillow Spray' and swearing by it. To say the least I was pretty intregued to try it out. In this sample you get '2 mini solutions for a better night's sleep'.

Lets start with the deep calm pillow spray. To be honest, I was kind of skeptical about this because I mean how much can a pillow spray really do to help you sleep?! I personally don't suffer with sleeping problems and can fall asleep pretty sharpish most nights. Anyway, I was still wanted to give it a go. So simply you spray this across your pillow before you're about to go to sleep. Its lavender scented which is obviously very calming and I love lavender scented products. The scent really lingers on your pillow until you fall asleep which is nice and makes it feel like less of a gimmicky product. I can't really give a verdict as to whether this helped me fall asleep but it certainly is very calming!

Secondly the breathe in roller ball. I've also heard about Youtube people, bloggers etc talking about this. I think people find it relaxing to use before going on flights and things? Maybe I'm wrong but I can see why it would be. Very similar smelling to the pillow spray, this is a lavender scented solution that you roll onto your pulse points and breathe it in. If you're into yoga, meditation, mindfullness etc then I feel like you'll enjoy this. Before I go to bed I roll this on my wrists, do a deep breath in and then slowly out. It is very relaxing but again I couldn't tell you truly whether it helped me fall asleep.

Overall I enjoy using both these products and they feel quite luxurious. However I'm not sure I'd pay for the full size of the pillow spray as I feel I can sleep the same without it. Although it is very calming and gives your pillow such a lovely scent to it.

Have you ever tried the This Works Sleep range?

Come Along With Me | Manchester

So I took a short trip to Manchester...

Some of you might be reading this, thinking Manchester isn't really the most exciting place to visit (I don't know maybe you're not haha) but nevertheless here I am with a post showing you some photos I took when I was on my travels. I'm from the south of England and have never ventured up north before so this was exciting for me. Manchester is a loong old drive from where I live but I feel as though it was very much worth it.

I don't want to ramble on too much but I'll talk you through my two days there. The first picture is the view from the hotel room we were staying in and I thought it was pretty cool. Me and my Mum went for a little explore (and shop). We visited the Manchester Art Gallery which wasn't the best I must say but I did like the little fashion exhibition they had going on. We wondered around the shops and I may have made a cheeky purchase in Selfridges, oopsies. The second day we visited the Trafford Centre which is a ginormous shopping centre, I was in awe. They had a Victoria's Secret Pink there so I was pleased and got myself one of their super cosy jumper/hoodie things. Which let me tell you are not cheap! Then we made the long old drive back home, but I had such a lovely couple of days.

Anyway, that was a short summery of my stay in Manchester. I had a really nice time and plan to go up north again sometime to have a bit more of an explore!

Have you ever visited Manchester?

Lush Toners | Eau Roma Water & Tea Tree Water

Yay for cruelty free skincare -

Lets start with the Eau Roma Water. This has a mixture of rose water and lavender water, the rose water is to help keep skin calm and reduce redness; where as the lavender water helps to balance and soften the skin. You can apply this by directly spraying onto the face or you can apply it to a cotton pad and gently wipe it across your face. I tend to spray is across my face just because I feel its more refreshing and let it sink in that way. It smells predominately of lavender which I personally find really calming. I can't say I've seen a noticeable difference to my skin using this BUT it is lovely to use.

Onto the Tea Tree Water. I feel like this product is more known in the beauty blogger world. I tried this one out first, a while back now and I must say it is brilliant. Its very similar to the Eau Roma Water in the fact its a toning water, and you can apply it the same way. Tea tree is an antibacterial, so obviously as Lush state, it can keep spots away. I'd definitely recommend this if you have more oily/spot prone skin as it can help to keep those pesky blemishes away. It smells like tea tree and is really refreshing, likewise with the other toning water.

Overall, I really like both toning waters. However, if you have more blemish prone/oily skin I'd recommend going for the Tea Tree Water. Purely because it acts as an antibacterial at the same time as being really refreshing. If your skin is on the drier/combination side of things with not too many blemishes I'd say the Eau Roma Water is for you. Providing you like the smell of lavender, although its not too overpowering.

Have you tried either of these toning waters?

Come Along With Me | Guildford #1

Yay I'm back with another come along with me post, my favourite type of posts...

Soo last week I took a trip to Guildford. A large town in Surrey, kind of local(ish) to me. Its such a gorgeous place, the shops are amazing and the surroundings are just so civilised. It was a really sunny day when I paid a visit which was really lovely. We did some shopping, had lunch at Pret and took a stroll up to the castle gardens which are just SO pretty.

The gardens were filled with friends/couples/workers having their lunch but I don't blame them, it was such nice weather. It was so peaceful and I'd recommend if you're near by or visiting, to just check out the gardens. We also went and had a proper look at the castle which was very nice. If you're into history/architecture type stuff you can go inside and have a look. The view from where the castle is situated is lovely as well, you can see right across the town (as you can see above). So anyway, I'd recommend visiting Guildford for both its shops and its beauty. There will probably be another Guildford come along with me post as I've got much more to explore! Also if you'd like to see a video version of my trip you can watch my Youtube video here.

Have you ever visited Guildford?

A Mini Beauty Haul

nyx, nyx blush taupe, too faced, too faced shadow insurance glitter glue, too faced shadow insurance, seventeen stay time, concealer, blush, eye shadow primer, loreal nude magique cushion foundation, foundation, loreal, too faced, seventeen, nyx
I've been picking up bits and pieces over the past few weeks and I've accumulated a few things I thought were worth sharing...

I'd seen this product floating around the blogosphere for a while and I couldn't resist the temptation any longer. I picked this up in Boots and it was the last one in my shade (porcelain) so I was pretty chuffed. Its an interesting concept to have a foundation within a cushion, but I can't get enough of this stuff. Its really dewy, with a medium coverage but its definitely build-able. I've been applying this with my real techniques sponge and it looks lovely.

I think this has been mentioned on this blog like a million times already buuut I picked up another one of these bad boys. I adore this concealer, its creamy, long lasting and has a great coverage. I think the best thing about it though is the shade, its super light for my pale skin and really brightens under the eyes. If you're looking for a cheap concealer, I'd highly recommend you pick this up!

Another blogger inspired purchase, but I'm so glad I picked it up. I finally found a NYX stand in a Boots kind of close to me and I was super happy. This is classed as a 'blush' however I'm not sure why, because its more of a bronze shade. Anyhow, I'm using this as a contour shade. Its perfect for my pale skin as its very cool toned which I'm all about. This really helps to give me those chiseled cheekbones I long for!

Okay so this is my first Too Faced purchase, so I was quite excited. I actually got this from TK Maxx (oh I do love you TK Maxx) and it was only £7. I was so happy when I saw they had a few Too Faced bits hanging around, and I thought I'd give this ago being it was £7. This stuff is incredible for making eyeshadow look pigmented and staying on your lids ALL day. The longevity of this is just fab. It reduces fall out as well, so you don't have glitter hanging around under your eyes like you normally would. Thumbs up from me!

What beauty bits have you picked up recently?
