4 Albums I've Loved In 2016

After seeing Katy's post on her 4 albums she's loved this year, I thought I'd pull together my own post on the albums I've loved this year...

Currents by Tame Impala
This album was a discovery of mine about midway through the year, and I haven't been able to get enough of it. My favourite song on the album is The Less I Know The Better, a song I urge everyone to go and listen to. I think the genre this album comes under is one called 'psychedelic rock', all in all I freaking love it.

I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It by The 1975
THIS ALBUM. I honestly waited sooo long for The 1975 to release their second album, and finally this February they did. I don't know whether I like it as much as the first album, I mean I really can't decide. My favourite songs from this album have to be, She's American, A Change of Heart and Paris. Although I pretty much love all of them. I also love the new pink vibe they have going on this time round.

Blurryface by Twenty One Pilots
I knew of Twenty One Pilots at the beginning of the year but really wasn't a fan of their stuff, but for some reason over the past couple of months I've really gotten into their music in a big way, especially the Blurryface album. My favourite tracks from this one have to be Ride, Lane Boy, Fairly Local and Heavydirtysoul. Its a brilliant album and I'd highly recommend!

Trick by Jamie T
A fairly new album on the block, and I'm lovin it. I had never really listened to much of Jamie T's work in the past, except his super catchy song 'Zombie'. This album is really no disappointment, and its everything I expected Jamie to put out. My favourite tracks from this are Joan Of Arc, Tescoland and Power Over Men.

What albums have you loved this year?

A Festive Makeup Look

I was reading through tons of christmassy posts today, and realised I hadn't really written any festive posts myself this year, so I'm about to change that!

With Christmas only four days away now (whaaat), I thought it'd be only appropriate to do a festive makeup look. Whether thats for a late christmas party, or for christmas day, I think this could work for either! So, lets start off with the base. I feel like this time of year calls for a full coverage foundation, and my favourite for this has to be the Vichy Dermablend Foundation. I pop this on with a damp beauty blender, and it just gives the most flawless finish. Doesn't cling to dry patches, nor does it look overly cakey. For concealer, I use a combination of the Rimmel Match Perfection and Seventeen Stay Time. The Rimmel match perfection is great for that extra coverage, and the Seventeen stay time helps to brighten the under eyes.

Contour and bronzing is a step I certainly couldn't miss out on a look like this. For contouring, I use the NYX Blush in Taupe. This is perfect for us pale gals out there, as its got a very ashy tone to it. I blend this in with a beauty blender, then go over the top with bronzer. For this I've been loving the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, which I also sweep across the forehead and on the jawline. Now onto the part of the routine I love most, highlighter. For this I use the Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Peach Goddess. This such a gorgeous, finely milled highlighter that you can build up to give yourself that popping glow.

Now we're done with the face, the most exciting part...eyes. I've got two options for this because I just can't decide which I prefer more. The Zoeva Cocoa Blends Palette and Tartelett in Bloom.  If I'm using the Zoeva palette, I dip into the gorgeous shade 'Pure Ganache', which is a luxurious metallic gold. That goes all over the lid with 'Freshly Toasted' through the crease. If I'm opted for the Tarte palette, the shade 'Firecracker' goes all over the lid. Which is a stunning bronze/red shade, its hard to explain but oh boy is it pretty. Then I'll go in with 'Leader' through the crease to give it that extra depth. Oh and I can't forget, popping a highlight shade on the inner corners to make the eyes pop.

For mascara, my favourite and the best at giving volume in my opinion, is the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara. It really grabs every lash and gives so much volume. And if you're gonna go all out, whack on some falsies as well. My favourite ones at the moment are the Red Cherry Demi Wispy lashes. They're easy to apply and give great volume, without looking too fake. And finnaallly, the lip colour. I think its inventible I'm going to pick a darker lip, so my options are MAC's Russian Red or NYX Liquid Suede in Vintage. Russian red is the ultimate matte red shade for this time of year, and Vintage is more burgundy which is equally as beautiful.

And there we have it, a festive full face of makeup! This is a look I've gone to several times the past few weeks, and have been loving it.

Life Lately

I've been meaning to do a little update post over on these parts for a while, and finally I'm doing it. Life hasn't been all that easy the past couple of months, but I've been getting by. Although I've had some amazing moments amongst the bad days.

First up of course, at the beginning on the month I made a trip up to London to visit Beautycon. I don't know if you can tell, but I can't stop talking about it. Probably up there with my top 5 favourite days this year, and one I'll never forget. I've also had a lot of parties the past couple of weeks too, which has actually been really nice. Its given me a chance to do a proper full face of makeup, and for once I actually felt confident in my own skin, which is a rarity. Oh and of course, I got to buy pretty dresses for the occasions which was a bonus haha.

Amongst the good times, theres been some hard times. I've been going through a break up and it definitely hasn't been the easiest thing to say the least. Its getting better though as time goes on, and I guess its just a healing process, life goes on nonetheless. I've also felt a bit ill on and off the past few weeks, which plays havoc with my anxiety. Being an extreme emetophobic and general worrier about any form of illness it hasn't gone well. To be honest, I think its just been on and off sinusitis which is nothing major at all, but of course my brain still likes to panic.

I don't want to end the post on a negative note, so I should probably mention the fact I've finally sent my UCAS application off - YAY! Its taken me such a long time to get my personal statement done, which is totally my fault as I'm the worlds biggest procrastinator. Anyhow, its done, gone, buh-bye! Hopefully I hear back from the universities I applied to soon, so I'm looking forward to that. Alsooo, one last thing, on Friday night I saw The 1975 live (for the third time). I'm writing this in the past so I can't actually tell you how good they were BUT I'm 99.9% sure they were incredible.

How's life been treating you?

My Christmas Wishlist

Christmas is fast approaching, so I thought I'd share whats on my wishlist this year!

01. The Urban Decay Moondust PaletteI've been lusting over this palette for such a long time, and christmas time is all about the glitter right?!

02. Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in Bombshell | Huda beauty is a brand I've wanted to try for a very long time, and bombshell looks like a gorgeous shade.

03. Jamie T Trick Vinyl | I looove this album so much, and since getting a record player for my birthday, I've wanted to get all my favourite albums on vinyl.

04. Zoella Beauty Gingerbread and Vanilla Fragrance Set | I really love Zoë's beauty range, and I adore the smell of ginger bread, so this seems like a winner to me.

05. The 1975 Rose Gold Necklace | I must say, I'm a pretty hardcore fan of the 1975 and I think necklace is really pretty, and to be honest I'd love a bit of the 1975 wherever I go haha.

06. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl | I don't own a single CT product and I think its about time that changed. Her matte revolution lipsticks are something most bloggers hype about and I really need to try one for myself.

07. Bloom by Estée Lalonde | I've been watching Estée for years now and have always loved her, so its only right I ask for her book for christmas!

08. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny | Woops, another lipstick. I'm such a big fan of Jeffree and I just want to own all of his makeup range basically, soooo haha!

09. Pixi Glow Tonic | I swear I've had this on my wishlist for years now, and I really want to get round to trying it out as so many people seem to love it!

Whats on your Christmas wishlist?

December Glossybox 2016

I shouldn't actually be writing this post as I cancelled my Glossybox subscription last month, however December's addition turned up at my door anyway. Not sure what that was all about, but I'm certainly not complaining, as this months box is incredible. And can we appreciate the design of the box, so gorgeous!

I was really excited to see this in my box this month, being the highlighter fanatic I am. Essence is a brand I've tried a few things from, and I think their products are great for the price. This is a palette that comes with two shimmer highlights, and one matte. All of them well pigmented too!

I've never tried a clear brow gel so I was excited to give this a go. I've tried this out twice now, and both times really liked it. It doesn't make your brows feel crispy like some brow gels do, and it holds the brows in place really nicely.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Gray Suede | £6.49
I almost squealed when I saw this, its just such a pretty colour. I'm not quite sure why its called gray suede as its almost a nudey/pink kinda shade. Anyway, its a beautiful colour and perfect if you're looking to do a neutral nail colour.

GOSH Mono Eyeshadow in Sand | £8.99
I've received a GOSH product in a previous Glossybox and wasn't at all impressed. However, this time I was pleasantly surprised. This gorgeous single eyeshadow is in a lovely cream shimmer shade, which is perfect for the inner corners or just all over the lid. Love it!

MDMFlow Semi-Matte Lipstick in Bossy | £18
I'd never heard of the brand MDMFlow, but I was intregued as soon as I saw the packaging for this lipstick. A gorgeous slim gold bullet, with the brand name across the side. The colour of this is STUNNING. Emphasis on the stunning, like I'm in love. A gorgeous mauve nude shade, thats not overly drying but has a matte formula. I'd highly recommend this lipstick!

A Mini Beautycon Haul

Soo as you saw from Sunday's post, I went to Beautycon on Saturday and had the most incredible time. Alongside meeting a lot of YouTube creators and bloggers, there were loads of brands there too. A lot were offering freebies which was amazing, so I managed to pick a few things up.

The NYX stand was the one that impressed me the most by far. They had a big spin wheel with products on, and obviously you gave it a spin and whatever it landed on, you received. So this was something I got, yay. I've wanted to try out the NYX setting spray's for ages, so FINALLY. I've tried this out once, but its done a pretty good job!

This was FREE. Can you actually believe it?! The bold metals collection was something I'd lusted over for ages, and now finally I own something from it haha. This is great for powdering all over the face and setting makeup. The quality of this brush is incredible as well, feels so heavy and luxurious. I also got to meet Sam & Nick whilst at Beautycon which was an absolute pleasure.

Probably my favourite lip range ever to exist. This was another prize I won on the spin wheel game. I saw the drawer full of lip creams and almost squealed haha. I picked up Abu Dhabi, which is a gorgeous neutral brown shade, something I don't have in my collection.

Ciaté Nail Polish in Raising The Barre | £9
This is the perfect winter shade in my opinion, hence why I chose it. I've never actually tried a Ciaté nail polish before but I've heard great things, and I know they're an amazing brand. Very excited to try this out!

I bought this for £12 from the official Lime Crime stand at Beautycon but on asos they seem to be selling for £15. But anyway, I was so excited to see Lime Crime there as I've wanted to try something from them for ages. I picked up one of their liquid lipsticks, obviously, and that was in Teddy Bear. A beautiful pink/mauve shade. This is HIGHLY pigmented and stays put on the lips literally all day. So impressed.

L'Oreal False Lash Superstar X Fibre | Unknown
I think this mascara is brand new, and I'm not sure its even been properly released yet? I could be totally wrong but I couldn't find it anywhere online, so I've linked the original version for now. I think the packaging is pretty snazzy on this, but I'm still unsure on the mascara itself. Its double ended, so you start with 1 and finish with 2, and it claims to give you a 'false lash' effect. I found it to clump my lashes together a bit more than I would like, and wasn't the best at lengthening them either. I'm willing to keep trying this out though!

5 Cosy Things To Do This Winter

I'm not the biggest fan of the winter months, however I am a fan of being super cosy. I thought I'd string together 5 of my favourite 'cosy activities' to do over the winter months!

01. Cosy up in bed and watch vlogmas. . .
I love December because basically every YouTube creator does vlogmas and it really gets me in the festive spirit. Theres nothing better than getting cosy in bed, and binge watching vlogmas's. My personal favourites are, Sunbeamsjess's, Zoë's and Estée's

02. Burning a candle and having a pamper evening. . .
I mean preferably a christmasy candle, but any candle works for me! The one pictured above is The White Company Mustqiue which is gorgeous. I feel like pamper evenings are so much more relaxing in the colder months. Once you're done you can cuddle up on the sofa with a big soft blanket and feel super chill.

03. Binge watch christmas movies with a cuppa. . .
Its officially okay to binge watch christmas movies people. Some of my favourites are Arthur Christmas, Elf (obviously), and The Polar Express. Making yourself a cup of tea, or whichever hot drink takes your fancy and curling up on the sofa for the afternoon is simply perfect.

04. Paint your nails a deep berry shade. . .
I think berry shades are possibly my favourite to paint my nails with. Give yourself some 'you' time, and paint your nails a gorgeous red or purple berry shade. Super winter appropriate!

05. Do some festive makeup. . .
I don't know about you but I find doing my makeup quite therapeutic. Doing a really pretty golden shimmery eye, paired with a berry lip is just perfect for this time of year!

What sort of cosy things do you like to do in the winter months?

Beautycon London 2016

I have got SUCH an exciting post coming your way today. So yesterday me and my friend Chloe attended Beautycon London. I've been so excited for this for weeks, and it definitely lived up to its expectations. I got to meet all my favourite beauty bloggers, Helen Anderson, Zoe London, Lily Pebbles, PIXIWOO! Yeah I mean it was truly incredible, and I got lots of freebies from great brands like NYX, Real Techniques and ugh, I just can't. Here are a handful of photos I got from the day, enjoy!

I think these are the best photos I managed to get from the day, and I'm so pleased with them. I'd really recommend getting tickets for next years Beautycon because it was honestly one of the best days I've had, and it was so inspiring in general.

Taking Inspiration

I feel like blogging is all about taking inspiration, whether thats from other blogs, magazine orrr anything really haha. Thought I'd share a few places I take my inspiration from, whether that be for blogging or other things I'm doing.

The first one is magazines, especially more independent magazines. My favourite has to be Oh Comely. For only £5 you get a jam packed issue full of beautiful photography, articles from a range of different people that you just wouldn't hear of otherwise. Their covers are always so ascetically pleasing as well and look great in blog photos. I think the thing I take most inspiration from in these are the photos, how they're taken, the way they're edited...everything!

Second of all, is looking at other peoples blogs. This is probably the best source of inspiration, as long as its not direct copying haha. Looking at the way other bloggers are doing their photography, what sort of props they might be using etc. There's also plenty of blog posts out there that suggest props to use, different cameras to use and all the rest!

So overall, I'd say independent magazines such as Oh Comely, Frankie, and Blogosphere are great to read through to get so inspiration if you're struggling with writers block. Equally looking at fellow bloggers and what they're up to, and don't forget Pinterest!

How do you keep inspired?
