January Favourites 2017

Sunday, 29 January 2017

I'm not going to lie, I feel like January has dragged a bit and its been a bit of a downer of a month but I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now we're heading towards February. I've still had a fair few favourites in January though which I'm excited to share!

Pretty much all month I've been obsessed with this stuff. I normally drink mint green tea, which is great before bed but I've just been loving this sooo much. I was skeptical at first because I mean, salted caramel and green tea together? Wasn't so sure. But its just so warming, its great anytime of the day and generally tastes like a hug in a mug!

I've got through about two tubes of this stuff, but I sort of put it to the back of my makeup collection and forgot about it whilst I used the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara (which is so good). I decided I couldn't afford to repurchase that mascara, so opted for the mascara I knew I loved. I've just really been enjoying it the whole of January pretty much, and forgot how good it was.

I bought this in the boxing day sales, and I've fallen in love with it. Its a gorgeous beige/grey colour, really unique. It lasts so well on the nails, better than any other Essie polish I've tried before weirdly enough. Just love this!

The soft matte lip creams are some of my favourite 'liquid lipsticks', although they aren't very liquidy. Anyway, I picked up the shade Abu Dhabi at Beautycon back in December and haven't really given it a proper chance until now. Its such a pretty mid tone brown that goes really well with a neutral or orange toned eye look.

I picked this up at the end of December when I was in Brighton. I was way too excited to see the Brighton store stocked their (fairly) new makeup range. I had been dying to get my hands on one of the blushers as they'd been so hyped about, and I mean that packaging tho! I ended up picking the shade rosy brown, which really is what it says on the tin. A rosy brown blush, that looks really natural on the cheeks but adds a good amount of colour.

What have your favourites been this month?

5 Minute Makeup Menu

Friday, 27 January 2017

Since its still (almost) pitch black outside when I wake up in the mornings, its safe to say getting out of bed is the last thing on my mind. This means makeup has to be quick, because I will have definitely spent more time in bed than I was supposed to...

I'm not a fan of leaving the house without any makeup on at all, I feel so bare. So, I've whipped up a 5 minute makeup menu for when you're running a lil bit late in the morning. Of course, I start with moisturiser as I can't do my makeup without it. I've been using the Nivea Light Moisturising Day Cream, perfect to slap on before makeup. I tend to skip foundation if I'm running late, so go straight in with concealer, of which I've been using my beloved Seventeen Stay Time. Perfect for covering up and brightening those under eye circles, and its very easy to blend out. Then a quick dusting of bronzer, I use the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, which looks really natural and doesn't require much blending out or working with. Annnnnd if you have time then theres no excuse not to dust those cheeks with highlighter. Of course, I'd have to recommend the Sleek Solstice Palette and use the shade 'Equinox'.

Onto the eyes, I loooove using the Tanya Burr Birthday Suit Eye Palette. I just pop 'Toast' all over the lid, this is a beautiful orangey/brown shade. Then put 'Soft Truffle' through the crease to give it some more depth, and voila your eyes are done and dusted! Definitely have to skip the eyeliner because ain't nobody got time for that. I then curl my lashes, and coat them with the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, which is great for lengthening and giving your lashes some oomph (lol). Can't forget the lips. I've been really enjoying the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi, which is a lovely mid tone brown shade.

There we have it, a quick and easy makeup look for when you're running late (like me every single day). Give or take a few minutes for this look, I can't guarantee you'll get it done in 5 minutes flat haha.

Bra-blems With ThirdLove

Wednesday, 25 January 2017

Something I want to more of over on this little blog of mine, is open up a bit more, about issues other than beauty as much as I love it!

I'm coming at you today with a real girlie issue...bra problems (or bra-blems)! I'm pretty sure everyone reading is wearing or does wear a bra on a daily basis, and they can be a pretty big pain sometimes. My daily bra struggle is straps...they constantly fall down and its so frustrating! The reason they always fall down is because I have a slanted shoulder, just due to a dodgy posture I think but god it annoys me. If I tighten them, they really dig into my shoulders, but if I have them too loose then they don't stay up. Its a never ending problem haha.

Thirdlove sent me over a lil' PDF of easy solutions for all your bra problems, and its actually pretty helpful. Another struggle I find, is getting the right size. I'm don't really have the biggest boobs ever, which some may say is lucky...which I guess it is a bit. Sizing isn't too much of a worry, as its pretty straight forward buuuuut, not too long ago I got measured at Boux Avenue and it was a completely different reading to what I normally am. I think shops measure to their size of bras, so I think its worth going to a few places and see which suits you best. Just a little recommendation there for you haha.

I wish I could give some other tips about what to do when you're having bra-lems, but I guess I'll just let the PDF do the talking! Although I would say, having a different bra for different occasions (if you don't already) haha. If like me, your boobs are a little erm far apart lets say...then push up bras are your best friend! I have two, one from Boux Avenue and Matalan, both really great and comfortable. For me, they really have to have a lot of padding in them to lift everything up (lol). But if I'm opting for an everyday bra, I usually go for a simple t-shirt bra because it provides the most comfort for me. Orrr, a good old Calvin Klein bra like this. Not the cheapest bra on the market, but trust me the comfort is just next level! I hope you enjoyed reading through this general chit-chat about bra-blems, and I'd love to know yours and any solutions you have, I'm all ears! I also have a 15% off code for you for ThirdLove if you're interested: BRABLEMSJAN15.

My Current Skincare Routine

Sunday, 22 January 2017

Coming back at ya after a week off with a skincare routine. Sorry for the absence, I've been quite ill and have literally not moved from my sofa all week.

Anyway, enough talk of my illness and onto all the wonderful skincare bits I've been using recently. I'm not going to lie, I've got quite the lineup for you here, so make sure you've got yourself a drink or a snack before you get reading haha. Lets start where you would if you were doing your nightly skincare routine, by taking your makeup off. I use one of the two products, either the Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water. I bought this as I was bored of my usual micellar water, so thought I'd switch it up. I think I'll be going back to the old stuff, this is too fragranced for me, so much so that it kinda stings my eyes when I try to get my eye makeup off. If I'm not using this, I'll opt for the Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk. This stuff is fab. It smells great, and really melts your makeup away. Once you've massaged it into the skin, just wipe it off with a damp cloth and voila.

Personally, I like to do the whole 'double cleanse' thing, just to feel extra squeaky clean haha. I recently bought the Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser, and have been loving it. Its a balm like texture, that melts into the skin leaving an oily residue that you then wipe off with a warm damp cloth/flannel. It leaves the skin feeling so soft, couldn't recommend it enough. After cleansing, is toning. I don't use anything too fancy for this, just the Lush Eau Roma Water, which I spritz all over my face and let it sink in. Every so often, I like to exfoliate because I have quite a few dry patches across my nose and cheeks. For this, I've been loving the Bee Good Honey & Camelina Facial Exfoliator. I received this in one of my Glossybox's and have been loving it. It has a lovely scent to it and feels really gentle on the skin.

Once all of thats done, its onto the serums and moisturisers. For a while now I've been using the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Serum. I have to say, I'm not sure I've noticed a difference in my skin but it feels really refreshing to apply nonetheless. After serum, moisturiser. I've nearly finished up my REN Clarimatte T-Zone Balancing Gel Cream. This is for oily prone skin, which I tend to have but I seem to be getting more dry areas now, so its time to change up my moisturiser I think. I love this though, as it sinks in super quickly, its lightweight and does the job perfectly. The moisturiser I use before putting my makeup on in the morning is different to my evening one, and I use the Nivea Moisturising Day Cream for normal/combination skin. This makes a great base for popping makeup on top of, and keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day. And lastly, for my body moisturiser I've been loving the Zoella Ginger Cream moisturiser, seems so yummy!

What are your favourite skincare products?

5 Blogs You Need To Follow

Sunday, 15 January 2017

I love reading other peoples blogs just as much as I enjoy writing on my own, so I decided I'd share 5 blogs you need to be following!

I've loved Katy's blog for a fair while now, and I honestly love each and every post of hers. Her blog consists of fashion, beauty, music and lifestyle (everything I love). She writes beautifully, and her photographs are effortless. I feel as though she has a distinct style as well, which is always nice to see. Definitely pop over and give her some love!

I think I've been following Jess for well over a year now, and I swear I love every post she puts out. You can see how much effort she puts into each of her posts, and her photography has improved and just looks utterly stunning. I always enjoy sitting down and having a good old read through one of Jess's posts, and I'm so sure you will too.

Another blogger I've been following for a long while (since she used to be avenue de sophie hehe)! Way back in October 2015 I even did a little interview with her, which you can check out here. Anyway, enough of that and more on Sophie's beautiful blog. Sophie talks a lot about life, and has posts filled with inspiration and motivation. Its really uplifting to see a blogger talk about things like body confidence, and other important things remembering to give yourself some space. Anyway, I just think Sophie's blog is one you need to be following!

I adore Daisy's blog. Her beautiful white washed photography just pulls me in every time haha. I love reading through her beauty posts especially, as theres always something I haven't tried that I'm intregued by. Alongside beauty, Daisy posts fashion and the occasional lifestyle post which is always a delight to read. If you're not following already, go on over because I know you won't regret it!

Lashes & Luxe
I don't think I could do this post without mentioning Courtney. One of my online besties (lol) but honestly, I love this gal and you just have to go over and follow her. She's so truthful in all her posts, never lies which I love. Her beauty reviews are my favourite, and there are a lot of high end makeup reviews, which is always nice to read! She also speaks about mental health often, her personal struggles and other bits, which is so nice to read as it raises awareness and helps others. Overall, everything about Courtney's blog is amazing and she puts a lot of effort into it.

My Desk Tour

Friday, 13 January 2017

A while back I did a shelf tour, which went down pretty well and I'm still proud of the organisation of my shelf haha. So I thought I'd do a lil' tour of my desk which sits underneath that shelf.

The desk I have is the IKEA MICKE. Its a pretty simple desk I must say, and it just houses little bits and bobs that don't fit anywhere else. I have my stack of photography/other books on the right, and then some other bits you'll see in the photos. Above my desk, I've pinned up some string to house special bits like photos and train tickets. I think it just adds a little something, and reminds you of the good times. Ohhh and I recently put some fairy lights above that as well, just to make it feel extra cosy haha.

Hope you enjoyed having a little look around my desk, you can find the plant pot that I've used as a pen holder from IKEA, here.

My Essie Collection

Wednesday, 11 January 2017

Just wanted to start this post of by saying a massive thank you for 1K followers on my Bloglovin'. Its so crazy to think this little blog of mine has that many people reading a long, I'll be forever grateful. Anyway, onto nail polishes haha!

I have a pretty decent nail polish collection I'd say, but Essie seem to be the most popular brand of the bunch. I think Essie nail polish posts are a thing? Well anyway, I'm doing one so heres all the Essie nail polishes I own! How many times do I want to say Essie haha?!

The Brights
Lets start with the brights shall we? I'm Addicted is a bright blue shade, which I think is so perfect for the summer time. I never really see a lot posted about this gorgeous shade, but I love it! Next up is Sunset Sneaks, which was part of the summer 2015 collection. This is one of my favourites in the summer months. Another two from the summer 2015 collection, were Peach Side Babe and Pret-a-surfer. Peach side babe is obviously a gorgeous peachy shade, which again, great for summer. Pret-a-surfer is a shade I like to wear all year round, its a lovely cool/calming blue.

Pastels/Glitters
Okay, so not all of these are necessarily pastels but thats the only name I could think to group them all together, and I only have one glitter haha. Lets go with Fiji first, a cult blogger favourite. Its a super pale pink, that isn't ridiculously transparent when you first apply, in fact its nice and opaque with two coats. Fashion Playground is a lovely pale/pastel mint green shade. Although, probably my least favourite out of my collection as it doesn't apply very well. Chillato isn't really a pastel colour, but it kinda fits into this category. Its a beautiful pistachio green colour, that was also from the summer 2015 collection, one I need to wear more often. Lastly, we have the glitter which is A Cut Above. A lovely pink/silver glitter that looks perfect over the top of Fiji.

Darks/Greys
Onto my favourite now, the darker colours and greeeeys. One of my newest additions to the collection is Bahama Mama, another highly rated polish amongst bloggers. Rightly so, its a beautiful rich purply/burgundy shade thats perfect for autumn/winter. Chinchilly is also another recent purchase, and one I haven't gotten round to using yet. Its a dark greyish/brown shade, looks very interesting and I'm excited to give it a go. The last two polishes are, Maximillian Strasse Her and Parka Perfect. Two super pretty ones. Maximillian Strasse Her, was the first full sized Essie polish I got in a giveaway and I was so excited about it. I remember Lily Pebbles hyping this up, and I'm so glad I got it, its one I go back to time and time again. Parka Perfect is a very similar shade, but more blue toned and equally as pretty.

What are your favourite Essie polishes?

My 2017 Goals

Sunday, 8 January 2017

I'm aware I'm a bit late with popping this post up, but better late than never right?! Although I honestly can't believe I'm already writing this. It felt like I was typing out my 2016 goals just yesterday, so crazy. I decided to do this again, as its something I can refer back to and see if I manage to achieve any of them!

01. Stick to a gym routine/get fitter
In November I finally joined the gym, and I'm really glad I did. I want to be able to have a routine and stick to it, as I want to get my fitness levels up. I'm pretty weak at the moment and do no exercise what so ever, so its something I'd love to achieve by the end of 2017. Actually, something else I'd like to add to this is gain some weight. I'm currently underweight, and would just like to get myself up to a healthier weight.

02. Travel outside of the UK
2016 was a great year for travelling in the UK, as I got to visit some places I've never been to before. But I think for 2017 the goal is to try and get myself out of the UK and see some more of the world. Fingers crossed!

03. Keep managing my anxiety
I've done so much better with managing my anxiety this year, and I've really improved a lot. But I want to push that a bit further and potentially get better at dealing with my emetophobia, which is something I'm going to aim to do each year until I have conquered it!

04. Pass my A Levels & head off to university
Crazy to think this year is my last year of being in compulsory education after about 14 years. I'd love to be able to finish (and pass) my A Levels with good marks and get myself into uni. Whether thats to do a foundation degree in art & design or start a photography degree, I'm not sure yet.

05. To read at least 10 books
I love reading so much, and I know I don't do enough of it. The aim is to read at least 10 books by the end of the year, and I'm hoping I can nail this one. I'll have a lot more free time after A Levels, so hopefully over summer I can read a good handful!

These goals aren't as big as last years, but still ones I want to try and achieve. Heres to a positive 2017, all the best!

5 Recent Beauty Purchases

Friday, 6 January 2017

With payday at the end of December and the sales hitting all the shops, I've made a few little purchases over the festive period that I thought I'd share.

I'm kinda addicted to buying falsies now guys. I had so many opportunities to wear them over the holidays, that I'm kinda hooked now. I'd used all of mine at least twice, and all were looking a bit worse for wear, hence why I picked these up. Eylure are my go-to eyelash brand, and these ones by YouTuber/Blogger Fleur are perfect. Not too dramatic, but still very noticeable.

When I was in Brighton just after christmas, we headed into H&M and I quickly spotted their new beauty line. I literally squealed with excitement. I'd heard so many amazing things about H&M's new and improved beauty line, and its safe to say I am not disappointed. I opted for a blusher, as that was something I'd heard the most hype over. I picked up 'Rosy Brown' which as it says, is a lovely rosy brown shade. Very subtle, perfect for all year round.

I always like to use a moisturiser before applying my makeup, and I'd previously used the Nivea day cream for oily skin, but my skins moved away from that, so this time I picked up the combination offering. This is such a lightweight moisturiser, which is perfect to apply just before you do your makeup. I'd really recommend this, and its down to about £2 at the moment in Boots - what a bargain!

I've wanted this nail polish for such a long time, and now its finally mine haha. I actually got this in a gift set half price in Boots, and I got a pretty good saving. Bahama Mama is perfect for this time of year, its like a plummy red shade. I've actually got it on my nails right now and its still looking tiptop, and doesn't show much sign of shipping anytime soon!

This was the second nail polish that came in the little Essie gift set, and its one I've been after for a long time as well. Chinchilly is an odd colour, but a really nice one at that. Its a beige/grey shade, very unique but one that could be worn all year round in my opinion. I love it.

What beauty bits have you purchased recently?

Looking Back On My 2016 Goals

Wednesday, 4 January 2017

And another year has ended. I'm actually pretty proud of myself for achieved most of my 2016 goals. So I thought it'd be nice to look back on them and see how I did.

01. Get over my phobias
I explained how I have a huge needle phobia and also suffer from emetophobia which is the fear of sick. I'm so proud/pleased to say I managed to have a blood test this year, after a whole year of trying. It might seem extremely silly to some people, but its a huge deal for me. I'm definitely not over the phobia, but I can manage it a whole lot better. As of the emetophobia, I'm still working on that one but I know thats going to be a long process.

02. Get more piercings
Ahhhh I totally smashed this one haha. I know its not really a hard one to accomplish but I did it nonetheless. I specifically said I wanted to get my nose pierced, which I did back in July and I'm so glad I did. I also got my tragus pierced, and two more on my lobe/cartilage on my left ear!

03. Explore new places
Another one accomplished, yay! I've been to Windsor (twice), London a handful of times as well. I also got to visit Manchester which was amazing as I've never been up north, and I fell in love with the city. Not long after that, I went to Brighton for the first time and also fell in love with that city too. I went again for my birthday and then a few days ago, I can't get enough of the place. Reading festival was somewhere else I managed to go this year, and boy what an experience! Think I'll be off again next year as it was just so much fun. And finally, I got to visit Bath for a few hours. Admittedly I would have liked longer there but hopefully I'll get to go back soon.

04. Pass my driving test
I am SO happy to say that I completed this one. I was quite a nervous driver, and my anxiety held me back quite a lot annoyingly. But on the 3rd August, I passed my driving test first time with only one minor. Its safe to say I was pretty chuffed with myself, and I've enjoyed driving ever since.

05. Make better blog content
I'd like to think I've achieved this one. I think my photography/presentation has improved a great deal over the year. My blogs undergone a new design and I finally purchased my own domain name and you're now officially reading on foreverseptember.co.uk, which you weren't at the beginning of the year. I'd like to think I just keep improving with everything I do on here.

06. Create a photo album
I haven't actually created the photo album as of yet, but I did use a disposable camera and purchased my very own film camera to capture moments with. The final thing is to buy the photo album and get sticking.

07. Do a 10K run for charity
Okay, I completely and utterly failed at this one. Admittedly, I was never going to be fit enough to do this but it was a nice thought. Hopefully someday I'll complete this as I'd love to raise some money for a charity close to my heart.

What I Got For Christmas 2016

Sunday, 1 January 2017

I've never done a what I got for christmas post before, but I love reading through them so I thought I'd share the goodies I received this year.

I know I'm a week late with uploading this, but better late than never right?! I was very lucky this year, as I am every year and I'm forever grateful for my wonderful family/friends. Little disclaimer that this isn't a post where I'm going to brag on, but I'm sure you know and have heard that a million times by now. I'll try and link everything, or link similar things.

Lets start with the smaller little knick knacks, so first I got a head massager. Bit of a random gift I know, but I really wanted one as I find them so relaxing haha. A got a tiny knitted cactus as well, one that I definitely can't kill, I mean how cute though?! Next up, my very own clapper board which is taking pride of place next to my bed. You may think I'm about 5 but I received a little Sulley Tsum Tsum, and I'm in love...seriously how adorable. Monsters Inc is one of my favourite movies, so this means a lot haha. A marble and copper clip set, which is just so Pinterest-y, (god I hate myself for saying that). They're so damn pretty though. The final two smaller bits were some little unicorn hand wipes, and copper tweezers - both of which I need in my life!

Onto the bigger bits, lets start with the DVDs. Kill Bill and Kill Bill Volume 2. I've never seen the Kill Bill movies, but I adore Uma Thurman, especially in Pulp Fiction, so I'm very excited to watch these. Finally, Estèe's book Bloom. I've been dying to read this ever since she announced she was writing a book, so I'm very happy to have my own copy at last. The 1975 Rose Gold Necklace, something that was on my wish list. I'm a pretty hardcore fan, and this is super pretty. Alongside this, I got a bright pink tshirt from the 1975 merchandise. Then I also (finally) got a Superdrive for my Macbook, as it doesn't have a disk drive. I can now watch allll the DVDs on my laptop with ease, yay!

And there we have it, what I got for christmas 2016! What did you receive this year?
