3 Books I Want To Read

Friday, 31 March 2017

forever september, beauty blogger, fashion blogger, books, three books i want to read, jandy nelson, teenage fiction, teenage novels,

Reading is something I don't do enough, but I'm hoping once college is over, I'll have some time to get stuck into a good book again!

A Universe From Nothing
Not my usual read at all. I'm not the sciencey type, nor do I enjoy science haha. But, the universe, space and time do interest me a lot. I spotted this book ages ago, and it really intregued me. The book explores why there is something, instead of nothing. Why does anything exist, and how will it all end? To me, this seems super interesting and I can't wait to read it.

The Art of Being Normal
I've already read a few pages of this book, and so far so good. This book is about two boys, who both have a secret. One of the characters, David, is teased by the school bully, and his parents think he's gay. Although, only his two best friends know that actually, he wants to be a girl. The other boy, Leo, who moved to the school David's at, stands up for David in a fight, where they form an unlikely friendship and I guess it goes from there. I'm happy to see a book exploring and bringing light to the LGBT+ community, and I'm excited to see what else this book entails.

I'll Give You The Sun
I have a feeling I'm going to love this book, as its by Jandy Nelson, who wrote 'The Sky is Everywhere'. Which I loved. This is a story about twins, Noah and Jude. They were incredibly close until a tragedy drove them apart, and now they're barely speaking. What the twins don't realize is that each of them has only half the story and if they can just find their way back to one another, they have a chance to remake their world. This sounds like such an interesting book, that is different from a lot of other 'teenage novels'.

The Budget Nude Lip Duo

Wednesday, 29 March 2017

budget beauty, nude lip duo, nude lipstick, nude lip liner, essence beauty, rimmel london, boots, feelunique, forever september, beauty blog, blogger

A nude lip is my go-to on a day to day basis, and with all the more pricey liquid lipsticks going around these days, I thought I'd share my favourite budget nude lip duo.

This lip duo will cost you a grand total of £6.29 - it doesn't get much better than that. The lip liner that became pretty much a cult favourite across the blogosphere a while ago is the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob. For a good reason too. The perfect pink nude lip liner, that can be used for just that or all over the lips. Its a matte formula, but its perfect for the every day nude lip. The only gripe I have with this, is how easily the pencil it self snaps off.

Onto the star of the show. Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in Barely There. This is only £2.30 which is even cheaper than the lip liner. Another gorgeous pinky nude shade, with brown undertones - very 'Kylie Jenner' if you will. Its not matte, but it has a lovely sheen to it, which also makes it very comfortable to wear. It does need re-applying after eating, but I can deal with that as its such a pretty shade.

Whats your go-to nude lip?

Current Favourites

current favourites, forever september, blogger, beauty blog, chanel, luxury, daniel wellington petite collection, daniel wellington watch

I said a while ago that I was going to start doing 'current favourites' every now and again, mainly because I can never get out a monthly favourites and I still want to share what I've been loving!

Soooo, the first thing I've been loving lately is my Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream* in the shade 'Adorable'. I'm a sucker for a liquid lipstick as it is, but this is one of my go-to's at the moment. The shade is very nude, with slightly pink undertones, which makes it very wearable. Its also really comfortable and long lasting on the lips. Another beauty related item I've been loving, is Essie Fiji. This lovely light pink offering, is perfect for the upcoming spring. I've had this on my nails, paired with Essie A Cut Above

Onto accessories, which I never normally feature but I've been loving two things recently. First lets talk about the sunglasses. These aren't any old sunglasses, no no...but Chanel sunglasses. Yes I'm extremely proud to type that out, because no way did I think I'd ever own some Chanel sunglasses haha. There is a bit of backstory to these, I did not pay the £289 price tag that comes along with them. I actually found them in a charity shop for just £30, so snapped them up pretty quickly. Plus the money went to charity so its a win, win situation. Lastly, the other accessory I've been living for lately is my Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Melrose Watch*. I mentioned this in my recent outfit post, here, and it literally hasn't left my wrist since I got it. Its so chic and classy, and seems to go with pretty much every outfit I wear. Its a brand new style for DW, and I'm loving it. Plus, Kendall Jenner is the face of the new launch which is actually pretty damn cool. I also have a 15% off code for you if you fancy getting one for yourself, just use 'FOREVERSEP15'.

5 Step Into Spring Nail Picks

Friday, 24 March 2017

forever september, beauty blogger, nail polish, barry m, essie, topshop, beauty, fashion, makeup

With spring approaching (kind of), I thought it'd only be appropriate to pick some nail polishes appropriate for that spring transition!

I'm a sucker for a pale/pastel nail, so its safe to say I love it when spring rolls around! My first pick has to be Essie FijiA beautiful pale pink shade, that looks so effortless and pretty on the nails. Its a cult favourite, and for a good reason - a gorgeous light pink for spring! Another Essie pick of mine has to be Maximillian Strasse Her. A firm favourite in my collection. This is perfect for all year round in my opinion, but something about muted grey in spring is just appealing to me. I currently have it on now, and its for sure one of my all time favourite nail polishes.

Steering away from Essie for a moment, and shining the light on Topshop nail polishes. I feel like these are a little underrated, as they have such a wide range of colour. The first one I've picked is Arabesque. A lovely nude shade, perfect for a neutral spring nail. This goes on quite nicely as well, only needing two coats (possibly three). My other pick is a lovely baby blue colour, Abrasion. I adore the colour of this, however it does need a few coats to get it opaque which is a shame.

And finally, the singled out Barry M polish in Coconut. A lovely off white colour. Similar to Fiji, except theres no pink undertones. Because its the gelly polish range, it lasts longer and is definitely better quality than their regular formulas. Not too many coats of this is needed, maybe two and voila you're ready to go!

What are your go-to spring nail polish shades?

Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Collection

Wednesday, 22 March 2017

daniel wellington, blogger collaboration, fashion blogger, daniel wellington watches, classic petite collection, kendall jenner, kardashians, keith haring, art, beauty blogger

Guess who's back with another outfit post?!

The kind people at Daniel Wellington asked me if I would like to collaborate with them, for their brand new launch. Their Classic Petite Collection*. A super exciting launch, that has Kendall Jenner as the face of it - so cool! So, what a great excuse to do another outfit post. The particular watch I'm wearing is the Classic Petite 32mm Melrose*. Which has a rose gold mesh strap, and a black dial, seriously gorgeous! I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty obsessed with this and have worn it every day since it landed on my doorstep. Its something completely new for Daniel Wellington, but I love the direction they're heading!

Anyway, onto the rest of the outfit. I've been wanting to share my style on this blog for such a long time, and I finally feel like I'm having the chance to do just that. My pinstripe trousers are from Zara, and I've got so much wear out of these. They're extremely comfy and go with a lot. To go along with these, I've just popped on a plain black long sleeved tshirt and my Keith Haring top from Uniqlo. I'm obsessed with this, and at only £12 it was an absolute bargain. I think it really brightens the rest of the outfit, and gives it a focal point. And this wouldn't be a outfit post without my trusty Stan Smith's haha, they go with everything.

If you fancy grabbing yourself one of the new Daniel Wellington watches (or any for that matter) I have a 15% off discount code for ya, just use 'FOREVERSEP15'. Hopefully I'll be back again with another outfit post soon!

Outfit: London Vibes

Friday, 17 March 2017

fashion blogger, beauty blogger, london, fashion, outfit, forever september, outfit post, stripe top, mom jeans, anna saccone necklace, stan smiths

Finally, another outfit post!

Please ignore the fact that the first photo doesn't line up properly against the others...its really annoying me and I can't fix it! Anyway, enough of me being a perfectionist and onto the outfit. I haven't done one of these posts for a very long time. Mainly because it takes up a lot of time, and secondly I'm a bit self conscious to be honest.

I went to London a week ago with one of my best friends, to do photography work. Near Waterloo theres a little tunnel thats full of graffiti, and she was the one who showed me it. We did some photos for her photography project and then some outfit pics for meeeee. This is a pretty standard outfit for me. Stripy tops, mom jeans and trainers. My go-to sorta thing.

My top is actually from Primark a few months ago, I love Primark at times and this was a steal at about £6. My dark wash mom jeans are from Urban Outfitters (BDG), and I managed to get these in the sale for about £15 - bargain! The belt is from Topshop, and I love it. Although it was £25, I feel like its something I'll keep in my wardrobe for a long time. Almost forgot about my Anna Saccone Star Sign necklace. I love this, and its one of my most worn necklaces. Lastly the shoes. My beloved Stan Smith's. I practically live in these, I feel like you can't go wrong with a good pair of white trainers.

Here are all the links to everything, or similar items!

5 Things That Help Me Relax

Wednesday, 15 March 2017

5 things, beauty blogger, forever september, blogging, lifestyle blogger, relaxing, anxiety, mental health, mindfulness,

As someone who suffers with anxiety, relaxing is really important to me. And so it should be to everyone really, taking some time out of your day for yourself is a really good habit!

I think its so important to take some time out each day to relax. Gives you some time to unwind and have some time to yourself. I thought I'd share some things that really help me feel relaxed at the end of a long day.

Doing a face mask. You honestly can't beat a good old' face mask. One I've been particularly loving at the moment, is The Body Shop Seaweed Mask. If you take the time to get your pyjamas on, take off your makeup and do a face mask, you can instantly feel relaxed. While the face mask is drying for 10 minutes or so, just have a flick through a magazine or a book, you're bound to feel so much more relaxed.

Watch ASMR videos or listen to calming music. ASMR isn't for everyone. Not everyone gets triggered by the sound of tapping, or brushing, but personally I love it. It makes me feel very sleepy, and when I want to calm down or feel relaxed, I usually stick on an ASMR video. If not, it'll be relaxing music or sounds. Such as rain falling, or waves crashing against the shore.

Reading a mindfulness book. Reading any sort of book can make you feel well rested, but reading a mindfulness book can be even better. It really helps you think, and can give techniques on how to stay calm etc. One book I've really enjoyed reading is Mindfulness On The Go. Very easy to read and very informative.

Sit down with a cup of tea and biscuit. I feel like this is a rather British thing to do haha. But you can't beat a good cuppa to warm you through, and have a biscuit to dunk in with it. I find this helps me relax, as you just get to sit down for 5 minutes and just be.

Writing/journaling. I'm currently doing a bullet journal, and its the best thing I've ever done. When I was little I used to write in a journal every day, and I stopped doing it as I got into secondary school. Bullet journalling is definitely a fun way to start journaling again, and its really relaxing just putting pen to paper.

What things help you to relax?

Why I Love Mint Green Tea

Sunday, 12 March 2017

mint green tea, green tea, mint tea, food blogger, beauty blogger, forever september, blogger

I'm currently sat here watching the second episode of Broadchurch with a cup of mint green tea next to me.

Which got me thinking, how much I love mint green tea. I don't really like hot drinks, I'm definitely a cold drinks kinda gal. But something about mint tea, thats just so good.

It helps with bloating. I bloat pretty easily, and I know a lot of other people do as well. As gross as this might sound, it helps you burp. Which actually makes you feel a lot better. Drinking it after a big meal, or a day of eating a not so healthy diet, it really helps haha.

Its so soothing. Not feeling great? Have a cup of mint tea. Feeling tired? Have a cup of mint tea. Trust me, it just warms you right through, but also refreshes you at the same time. So overall its pretty soothing, and just super comforting.

It helps relieve heartburn. I get terrible heartburn sometimes, and it sucks. Mint is meant to help relieve heartburn, so what better opportunity than to have some mint tea? It warms you up, but also helps to keep the heartburn at bay. Perfect!

Its brilliant for your digestive system. Linking back to the whole bloating thing, mint tea is so good for your digestion. If you're having some trouble yanoo, then a cup of this will be great.

Bit of a random Sunday post for you, but gotta share my love for mint green tea!

Brand Focus: NYX Cosmetics

Friday, 10 March 2017

As everyone probably knows, NYX made its way over to the UK a while ago now and everybody went crazy for the brand.

That definitely includes me. Their products are incredible for how affordable they are. I remember trying to get hold of their coveted blushes on Amazon ages ago now, so its safe to say I'm happy they're an easily accessible brand now. I thought I'd gather together some of my favourite products and have a lil chat about them.

The obvious, Soft Matte Lip Creams. I think everyone went pretty crazy for these, and theres a good reason behind that. A very unique formula, which is lightweight and super comfortable on the lips. They definitely live up to their name, and have a great variety of shades. My favourites by far are, 'Rome', 'Zurich', 'Cannes' and 'Abu Dhabi'. Mostly nudes or darker pinky shades, but those are my fave. Another lip product of their's thats fabulous is the Butter Glosses. I definitely prefer my mattes but when I want to switch it up, this is my go-to. My favourite shade is 'Angel Food Cake', a gorgeous dusky pink which sits beautifully on the lips. One thats perfect for all year round due to how neutral it is.

Onto my favourite face products. The ever so hyped about Taupe Blush. Even though its classed as a blush, for us pale gals its perfect as a contour shade. Its a very cool toned shade that creates the perfect shadow to give you those cheek bones (that you don't have) haha! This is so easy to use, and my favourite product to contour with. I'm also a concealer addict, so I knew it wouldn't take me long before I picked up their HD Studio Photogenic Concealer. Not my favourite concealer ever, but nonetheless a great one. It comes in a decent amount of shades, and is perfect for both under the eyes and on blemishes. An all round great concealer that I feel like would work on so many skin types. And finally, another firm favourite in my collection, their Matte Finish Setting Spray. This is brilliant for the price point, especially if you're not looking to splash out on a setting spray. Preferably I'd get the dewy version next time but this still does the job, and locks my makeup in place pretty much all day.

Whats your favourite NYX product?

The Best Liquid Lipstick Formulas

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

liquid lipstick, formulation, jeffree star, sleek makeup, nyx cosmetics, lipstick, nude lipstick, forever september, blogger, beauty blogger

Its safe to say I have an addiction to liquid lipsticks, I just can't get enough of them!

So today I have three of my favourite liquid lipstick formulas out there. Two are 'drugstore', one more high end. You might be able to see a pattern in the colours I've picked as well, I do love a good nude/pink shade, my go-to.

I kind of pushed these to the side when I saw them released, for some reason in my head I thought hmm nah they won't be any good. Boy was I wrong. For only a fiver, these are one of the best liquid lipsticks I've tried. It dries down matte very quickly, and sits really comfortably on the lips. It doesn't feel like you've got a lot of product on your lip, in fact it feels very thin. The best thing about this for me is the lasting power. I went to London a few weeks ago, I ate, drank, and all the rest of it and I didn't feel the need to re-apply once. It stayed put all day!

I know Jeffree Star isn't everyones cup of tea, but personally I really enjoy his videos and his makeup line is brilliant. This liquid lipstick was part of his holiday collection, and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I managed to get this with 30% off as well, so what a win-win situation. The colour of this probably isn't for everyone, as its a purply/grey/brown shade, very unique but I love it. Anyway, the formulation is just something else. This feels extremely lightweight on the lips, honestly doesn't feel as though you have anything on your lips, which I'm all for. Doesn't feel drying, and lasts a pretty long time. I went out clubbing with this on, and only re-applied once, but I think thats because the shade is light, and easier to see when patches are rubbing off.

How could I do this post without including a NYX liquid suede? Probably the best drugstore liquid lipstick option. This is my holy grail liquid lipstick I'd say, its the perfect colour and formulation. I have the shade 'Vintage' as well, but Soft Spoken is more versatile, and easy to wear. Again, feels very lightweight on the lips and doesn't need touching up often at all. I feel like you get a decent amount of product for the price as well, which is always a bonus. I can't pinpoint exactly what I love about this, but its just one of my favourite liquid lipsticks.

Which liquid lipsticks do you love?

Shedding Some Positive Light

Sunday, 5 March 2017

positivity, shedding light, happiness, chatty post, lifestyle blogger, forever september, beauty blogger

I'm currently sat writing this post at half 11 on a Saturday night...wild!

In a recent post 'life struggles' I basically had a moan about how tough life was for me at the moment. I just wanted to turn that around and post something more positive. Of course, everybody had their struggles, it wouldn't be life otherwise. I think its important that every emotion is temporary and what you're feeling, won't last forever.

I think this is something I've learnt a lot over the past two years or so. Pain doesn't last forever, and you won't spend the rest of your life suffering. Whatever the situation you're in is, its going to end at some point. For example, I'm loaded up to my eyeballs in college work right now. But by June its all going to be over and I'll have three months free to do whatever I want. I was also having friendship issues and having to deal with bitchy people. Guess what? Thats all blown over now.

You've just got to take the bad times and embrace them. You're going to hurt, and I guess you've just got to let yourself be down for however long. Because in the back of your mind you've got to remember its only temporary. I really need to take my own advice here, because usually when I'm down its the end of the world. But in reality, its not. I'm grateful I have positive energy around me 99% of the time, and its lovely to have a community of blogging girls that care and leave lovely comments as well. As long as you speak out, you're never alone. I think I just wanted to write a positive post while I'm in a good state of mind, as its something I can refer back to.

"Pain is temporary, don't give up"

Also, these photos were taken by my very talented friend Marcie for one of her A Level photography shoots. She's also an amazing artist, so I'd highly recommend checking out here Instagram here

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette

Friday, 3 March 2017

too faced cosmetics, too faced, too faced white chocolate chip palette, sephora, american beauty, eyeshadow palette, high end makeup palette, forever september, blogger, beauty blogger

Too Faced are slowly becoming one of my favourite brands, with three of their palettes in my collection now its safe to say they're a great brand.

When I was browsing Sephora (as you do), I spotted this. The Too Faced White Chocolate Chip palette. This currently isn't available in the UK yet, so sorry to the UK folks reading. My friend Chloe, was off to LA so I jumped at the chance and asked if she could pick it up for me.

This was a palette I'd never heard of before until stumbling upon it on the Sephora website. I'm not gonna lie, its absolutely tiny. I really didn't think it was going to be this small, its miniature! Perfect for traveling, but not so good as I paid £20 for it. When I looked at the shades online, I thought they'd be perfect for everyday wear, and I was right there. They're quite light shades, not very warm toned at all, so if thats something you like, this palette might not be for you.

I'm going to be blunt here, I'm actually pretty disappointed with this palette. The shades aren't particularly buttery like in their other palettes, they're actually quite chalky. Which I mean, I don't expect for a palette smaller than my hand that costs £20. The pigmentation isn't the best I've ever come across either, especially in the shimmery shades. In fact, all of the shimmer shades look almost identical when placed on the lid, they all transfer as a white/pale shade. Even though in their pan you can distinctly see they're completely different. The matte shades however, are a bit better. The three shades that would be great as a transition colour through the crease are, 'Cake Batter', 'Cookie Dough' and 'Ambrosia'. All of which are semi warm toned shades that are pretty neutral.

Overall I'm slightly disappointed with this palette, however its quite good for every day looks or if you're travelling due to the size. I would say don't worry about trying to order it off Sephora, as I'm just not sure its worth it.

Whats your favourite Too Faced palette?

The Matte Lip & Dewy Skin Craze Continued

Wednesday, 1 March 2017

matte lip, dewy skin, makeup, beauty, forever september, forever september blog, blogger,

Last year, the world went mad for a matte lip and dewy skin and I guess I'm still not over it just yet.

Every makeup brand under the sun decided to bring out a matte liquid lipstick last year, but I'm not complaining. I never used to wear lipstick, as I found it annoying and never got on with most consistency's. But liquid lipsticks are something else, they're brilliant. Stay put all day long, and the colour pay off is always amazing! As for the dewy skin craze, well I still love that as well. Gone are the days when a caked up matte face was what I aimed for, but now its a nice fresh base. Dewy foundations, highlight and natural blush is where its at nowadays.

Last week was London fashion week (as I'm sure everyone has seen by now), and I believe Paris fashion week is this week. By the looks of it, the matte lip and dewy skin trend are still very apparent, which is great. Just My Look are an British online beauty retailer, which I was lucky enough to try some products from. They sell such good brands, like Milani (we all know how much of a struggle that was to get in the UK), Sleek, O.P.I and more.

Sooo, lets go with the two matte liquid lipsticks that I got first. As I said before, I'm totally obsessed with liquid lipstick at the moment, its all I'll wear. The first one I opted for was the Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in Adorable*. I've never tried a Milani product before but I was so drawn in by these. I went for a nice nude colour, because thats all I ever seem to wear. The first thing I noticed when I opened this was the scent. A very strong vanilla/sweet scent, although I'm not complaining because it smells good enough to eat. The colour pay off is great, and this seems to be really pigmented. Its a gorgeous yet basic nude thats perfect for everyday. Its also really long wearing and isn't drying at all - bonus! The second liquid lip I picked up was the Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in Shabby Chic*. I'd heard a lot about these when they first launched and I wasn't sure about them. First impressions being the packaging looks very cheap, especially the choice of font, but thats just my opinion. Anyway, I shouldn't have been so quick to judge. This is one of the best liquid lipsticks I've tried. Its a beautiful dark/dusky rose shade thats great for everyday wear again. It dries down really quickly, and is very pigmented. Safe to say I'm very impressed with this.

Now onto that dewy skin. A product I was instantly drawn to was the L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD High Definition Concealer*. Another product I seem to remember was hard to get in the UK for a long time, but they actually have so many products available, if you want to take a look, here. This is a great concealer for coverage, yet it brightens under the eyes without making it look cakey. A lot of the time I just use concealer on its own, which really gives you a fresh base and looks very natural. You can really achieve that with this, and its ridiculously affordable! Lastly, another Milani product because I simply couldn't resist. The Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso*. How many times have you seen this product mentioned?! I'm sure it was a cult classic a few years back now, and I've finally gotten round to testing it out. This gives such a pretty glow to your cheeks, and actually makes me look quite healthy. Not only is it a blush, but it seems to have tiny flecks of sparkle in, so it really brightens your complexion at the same time; helping you achieve that dewy finish!

Have you ever tried any of these products?
