Things I Learnt Throughout School

June 24, 2015

/ uncategorized

Recently leaving school, I feel like I’ve learnt a lot of things over the past 5 years and want to be able to share my experience.

Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not

Ooh, starting of with a cliche phrase here but I can only tell you its the truth. I feel a lot of judging goes on within school, and sometimes you feel forced to dress a certain way or act a certain way just because everyone else is doing it, or you think you’ll look ‘cool’. I don’t think you should feel pressured into doing anything or being someone you’re not, so keep to what you enjoy, and what you feel comfortable in.

People come and go

I’ve found that so many people come into your life, then quickly or over time will leave again. Thats just life I suppose. I think many people go through a lot of friendships whilst at school, and that’s okay! You won’t get on with everybody, and you just have to find the right people you like being around. I think this is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt, people may let you down but you have to keep moving on.

Pick to do activities you enjoy

I can’t stress this one enough. Picking to do subjects you enjoy is so important because a year down the line, you don’t want to be sitting in that lesson bored out of your mind! I know some subjects are compulsory and you can’t enjoy every single lesson, I know but where you can pick activities and subjects you know you’re going to enjoy doing. I think you get the most out of picking the right things for you, and not doing something because your parents want you to or your friends are doing it.

Don’t take it all too seriously

By no means am I saying not to work hard in school, no no no. I mean don’t take revising or homework so seriously that you’re making yourself stressed and unwell. Nobody wants that. As long as you try your best and work to the best of your ability you’ll be fine. Its hard to not stress out, I totally understand but sometimes you just need to take a step back and breathe. Just try your best and that’s all you can do!

I hope this has helped anyone going through school or even joining secondary school soon!

Have you learnt anything since leaving school?

Lucy x
