As you may know, Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury is one of my all time favourite lipsticks and the goes for many other bloggers out there. Its the perfect everyday nude and works well with practically every makeup look. Recently, I was doing a lil Superdrug order and saw that Makeup Revolution had launched a few new bits in collaboration with Soph, which is when I picked up this gorgeous palette and the Nude Lipstick in Cake.
As you can probably tell, the shade isn’t right on par with Pillow Talk but its pretty damn close. Even the packaging shows similarities, with those rose gold vibes. Obviously, the Makeup Revolution offering does feel a lot cheaper than CT’s but thats understandable as there is a £20 price difference there. As for the formula’s, to put it simply, the Makeup Revolution lipstick isn’t matte and the CT one is. I’m not overly fussed by this, as some days I prefer a cream finish over matte, so its nice to switch it up.
So, the lasting power. I feel like because the Makeup Revolution lipstick isn’t matte it transfers quite easily. For example, you’ll probably have to top it up each time after having a drink, whereas with CT’s offering thats not so much the case. As longevity stands, CT wins that one but again, for £4 I don’t really expect miracles ya know?! The other thing I’m super impressed with, is the pigmentation and colour pay off. It goes on really easily and you don’t have to keep layering it up to get that colour pay off, one swipe and you’re good to go. In that sense, Pillow Talk is the exact same, you don’t need to keep applying to get good colour pay off. As for the actual shade of each lipstick, Makeup Revolution Cake definitely has more of a pink undertone than Pillow Talk. Although they both still have that brownish/nude colour that we all know and love.
Overall I’m super impressed with the Makeup Revolution offering and for under a fiver, you can’t really go wrong can you?!
