5 Fail-Safe Pick Me Ups

forever september, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, pick-me-ups, 5 fail safe pick me ups, fail-safe, friends, chocolate, retail therapy, making plans, fresh air, mental health, anxiety, depression,We all have those days where staying in bed seems like the best option. Due to my anxiety, these days come around more than I’d like, but I do have some fail-safe pick me ups that tend to cheer me up just a lil bit and keep me going.

01. WATCH FRIENDS

‘When it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month or even your yeaaaaaar!’ Whenever I’m feeling a bit crap, I always stick Friends on. Mostly because its easy to watch and its funny/relatable. You can always count on one of Chandler’s sarcastic comments to make you giggle, thats for sure. Watching something a little more lighthearted always helps me.

02. EAT ALL THE CHOCOLATE

If you’re gonna sit down and watch Friends, you’ve gotta have some chocolate to accompany you right?! They say that chocolate releases good endorphins, so thats a good enough excuse for me to consumeĀ allĀ the sugar. Usually I’ll go for a bag of crispy m&m’s, or more recently, a bag of malteser buttons.

03. STEP OUTSIDE

Staying in and binge watching old sitcoms is all well and good, but the fresh air can work wonders for your mental health. Even if its just stepping out into your garden, or taking a 5 minute walk down the road. I always find fresh air helps to refresh/clear my mind.

04. A BIT OF RETAIL THERAPY

I feel like this one is such a given. What doesn’t retail therapy cure?! Even if you’re on a spending ban, scrolling through Asos and adding bits to your wish list ready for payday is always fun. I dread to think the amount of time I’ve spent aimlessly scrolling through BeautyBay or Asos, but it does always cheer me up and gives me a bit of fashion/makeup inspiration!

05. MAKE PLANS

I always find that making plans helps to pick me right back up. If I don’t have much to look forward to I can often slip into a massive slump. Although I do understand when it comes to mental health, it can be difficult to organise things, especially when you suffer from anxiety/depression. However, I think if you can find some things to look forward to, it can really help to motivate you day to day, as you know you have something exciting just around the corner.

What are your fail-safe pick ups?
