So, I attempted to start this series off in February…I only managed to do it that one time haha. Anywaaaaay, its been a while and I’ve watched/listened/read a lot over the past 5 months and I wanted to share.
seeing red uk true crime podcast
I don’t think this post would be complete without me mentioning something to do with true crime. For months now, I’ve been obsessed with ‘The Mile Higher’ podcast and I wanted something similar to listen to. So, this podcast is hosted by Mike and Bethan and they talk about murders, scams, heists and all that good stuff. Oh and of course, it’s all UK based. It’s so interesting to learn some of the horrific things that have gone on in this country over the years, I love listening to this when I’m getting ready in the morning or on my way to work.
by creatives, for creatives
Can I mention my own podcast? Well, I’m doing it anyway haha. It’s called ‘By Creatives, For Creatives’. Essentially, I chat to people from the creative industry, whether thats bloggers, photographers, artists, film makers etc. I’ve had so much fun recording it so far and I’ve spoken to some amazing people. It’s so cool to talk to like minded people and understand their creative process and I’m glad people are enjoying it too. You can listen to it on Spotify and Apple Podcasts (just type in By Creatives, For Creatives).
Last year I discovered music artist Ten Tonnes, who is actually George Ezra’s younger brother. He has recently released a new album, which conveniently is named Ten Tonnes haha. The first song on the album is called Lucy, so how could I not love it?! Its a really good album to listen to whilst driving, I think my favourite song is Lay It on Me – would highly recommend!
this is going to hurt
This book was so DAMN good. Adam Kay, who was a junior doctor, wrote diary entries throughout his time working in hospitals and then published them in this book. He worked in gynaecology and obstetrics and was dealing with labours, births and other issues surrounding that area. It’s both hilarious and heartbreaking, as there are funny moments that he had to deal with and some very sad moments too (as you can imagine). It had me laughing and also sobbing in parts, so yeah I’d really recommend this.
eleanor oliphant is completely fine
Bit late to the party with this one, but I finally got round to reading it and it was fab! I must admit, I found it a bit strange at the start and I couldn’t understand Eleanor as a character but it all made much more sense the more I read. Its a really easy read and you definitely get quite invested in the characters. There are twists and turns but I don’t want to say much more, just definitely worth a read.
call me by your name
Ahh, I really loved this book, something totally different to what I’m used to reading. This is a coming-of-age story of 17 year old Elio, who is spending the summer in Italy with his family. His Father invites a graduate to work with him every summer and this particular year it is 24 year old Oliver. Elio admires Oliver from afar and then their relationship with one another goes one step further. I won’t say much more, but this is written so beautifully and I can’t wait for the sequel that is coming out at the end of the year.
stranger things 3
Ahhhh I’ve waited so long for this and I’ve already finished it, haha. Stranger Things is one of my favourite TV series ever and this didn’t disappoint. Although, I did feel as though it was very different to the previous 2 seasons. Much more full on and actually way more scary to be honest. I guess this is due to an increase in budget, but yeah it was actually pretty creepy. It was mad to see the characters looking so grown up as well. I was on the edge of my seat watching every episode, they’re so intense – its crazy. I don’t want to say much more because there are many opportunities for spoilers!
dead to me
I was browsing Netflix looking for something new to watch and this caught my eye and boy, am I glad I decided to start watching. This is about two women who meet at a grief support group and they quickly form a strong bond with one another. Then one of the ladies (Judy), finds out Jen (other lady) had been lying to her. I won’t say much more but things unravel pretty quickly and every episode there is a twist that leaves you wanting to watch more. I’m so excited for season 2 (if they’re making one haha)!
Late to the party with this one, but my Mum and I started watched a couple of months ago. I just wanna start off by saying how good looking Cillian Murphy is…honestly can’t work out if I watch it just for him orrr hahah. Anyway, I’ve really been enjoying this and am currently on the last season. I’m not usually the biggest fan of violence and this show is pretty much fuelled by that, but it has a charm to it that just makes it so watchable. Each character contributes so much and it wouldn’t be the same if one of them were missing, I don’t know how I’m going to feel once I’ve finished it!
