all the pink goodness…
At the beginning of September, myself and my boyfriend went to Sketch for afternoon tea as a birthday treat. I’ve wanted to go for years, after seeing various YouTuber’s and bloggers post about it, in all its pink glory. So it’s safe to say I was pretty excited to be heading there. As it was a treat and special occasion, I thought I’d share the afternoon and how the experience was!
We arrived about half an hour early to our booking, however we were still allowed in and taken to the Gallery (where the afternoon tea is). What I didn’t realise, was that Sketch is made up of various different rooms, not just the Gallery. So you get to take in some of the gorgeous interior before you reach the Gallery itself. We were shown to our table, where we were given menu’s to look at. We had a quick flick through and picked out English Breakfast tea each and order the afternoon tea.
Before the afternoon tea came, we were served what I can only describe as egg and soldiers with a side of caviar. Well for me, it was cauliflower caviar as I opted for the vegetarian version. The ‘egg’ was actually a cheese mousse, which was delicious and it had lightly toasted ‘soldiers’ alongside to dip in it. A little while after we’d finished that, our afternoon tea was presented to us. As I mentioned, I went for the veggie option so had different sandwich fillings. There was a vegan coronation ‘chicken’, cucumber, some sort of cheese and a pea and…something, wow my memory is great haha!
Onto the middle tier, the cakes (arguably the best part). We had three each, which were, a slice of battenberg, mini chocolate eclair and a strawberry tart. Then on the top tier was a raspberry cheese cake. Ooh and some little lemon flavoured marshmallows which was such a cool touch (and very yummy)! As if that wasn’t enough food, next up was scones. We were served warm scones with jam and cream. In case you were wondering, I put jam first – its the right way haha!
Last but by no means least, a slice of victoria sponge. I was struggling at this point and only had a small amount but despite that, it was so yummy. I felt beyond spoilt with all the food and the gorgeous atmosphere. Although it is pretty pricey, if you have the budget and are looking for something fancy to do in London or its a special occasion, I’d totally recommend Sketch.
